When did you move out of your parental home?

I moved out at 22 after college and working for 1 year building up an emergency fund then 2 months later I was made redundant. Luckily the emergency fund lasted long enough and I didn't end up coming back home.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Went to uni at 19 (September birthday so the earliest I could go) and went back home only at holidays.
I then moved back to my mum's for the summer before starting my postgrad course at a different university, spent 3 weeks back with my mum after finishing that course then was offered a job in my original university city so moved straight back permanently at 22.
I was desperate to move and would have gone earlier had I been able to. In all honesty, there was no saving or planning to move. I just did.0 -

I had to stand on my own two feet at 15. Both parents died within a year of each other and left nothing but debt for me to look forward to.
It was a sobering experience, but it made me the hard nosed bast*ard that I am now. I care little for anyone else so long as I'm OK.0 -
I was 18 I left work one night and decided I couldn't do that job forever got home packed a case told my parents I was going to leave Lancashire the next day and try London... they laughed, I arrived in Euston the next lunchtime got a cheap hotel for the night sorted and 2 days later got a job that came with a room... Never moved back to Lancashire...my husband left at 16 when he joined the Army.0

I just turned 17 and was in first year of sixth form. Had a huge row with my parents over my school attendance 'my house my rules' so left and moved into a houseshare with 2 colleagues from my weekend job. I was lucky and was able to work Sat/Sun daytime, one weekday afternoon and one evening (22.5 hours a week) plus full time in school holidays and make enough to pay rent and bills and save up for uni. Despite not really trying at school I got good A level results and went to a Russell Group uni, I sorted things out with them before I left for uni and my dad helped pay for my living expenses. My brother left home for uni and then went back after renting for a while to save up for his house- he didn't leave until he was 30 but now lives abroad. I bought my own place at 21.
If you really hate living at home then move out but if not consider staying for a while to build up some savings - deposit/ emergency fund/future fund. While it's lovely being able to do what you want and suit yourself house shares can be hard work!"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0
