Have just got back from the work panto with 3 £2 coins:D
Happy days.
Hickles I hope you find your rings, can't believe people are still stealing from you after last time
Good luck with the hot-coals-walking ETO, you're braver than me! Can you post a link to your page? Is that allowed?
Aww Helen, you don't have to be worthy of your mum's love. Mums just love their kids whatever. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh decisions, decisions, DH said we shall wait until after our America trip, and if we are still as keen to have a dog then as we are now we will look at saving for one (and in the mean time we can keep going up the dog shelter . . . just incase . . . )
Sue-UU - Hope you soon feeling better. Hope you wrapping up warm this freezing weather
ETO - Love the poem and good luck Saturday
DreamerHelen - Maybe you could try a hot poultice on your abscess - you can look it up on GoogleI used to get them a lot when I was younger.
I went out in the snow for essentials but used a cc so put £1 in my pot today.
Hope you all have a fantastic Friday

Hello all,
Been away for a while, my eyes are getting rather tired now but sending a high five to all those with good news and a safe squidy hug to all those in need.
Potting news - I have finally wrapped my Roses tin in Christmas wrap it looks really rather festive and if I do say so myself rather respectable. I was a little cheeky and counted what I had in the tin before I properly sealed it up. I got £11.54 and I added a £5 note as I am not going out until Monday now as I have got severe back pain
Take care all and keep safe in this cold weather
Lucy xx
Thank you so much Sue-UU for my new shiny stars, what a lovely surprise. I have already added them to my signature and will give them a lovely polish tonight!
I was wondering when you have time would mind removing my target please, I want to change it for next year because if all goes to plan I should be debt free in May and would like to save at least two of what would have been my debt payments to treat those who have helped me out!

Morning lovely potters!
Had a hospital appointment on Wednesday- they are so far happy with my progress and I will hopefully be able to stop taking the blood thinners after 3 months. Had yet more blood taken and as I've not heard anything about the results I'm assuming they're normal- woop!
Yesterday was a great day- met up with some old work colleagues for lunch, it was so nice to see everyone and meet an incredibly cute baby boy one of the girls has had. And I've potted the £3.73 change I had left!
Looking forward to this weekend, off to a hen doo! I'm staying at the bride to-be's house and one of the nights is going to be a night in with games to save ££. I've taken out cash for the weekend so hopefully won't need to get out any more.
Enjoy your weekend potters

Why's that, GAP? Don't you like it or is it because you were indoors working? I LOVE snow and just hope we get some down yer this year!!!! :j
No likeyI don't like cold. I don't like winter. I don't like anything about it. Cold, wet, windy, rainy, storms, hail, sleet, snow, slush, dark almost all the time (I see daylight through the window for about 6 hours a day), slippy (I fall all the time and it hurts - I'm delicate
). What's to like?
I LOVE summer!! :happylove:happyhear
There is a homeless girl who sits in the street on my route home. I don't usually carry money (unless it is change allocated to my pot) but it was freezing yesterday and I had 2x £1 coins so I gave her one. I am a bit split in my feelings about beggars in the street. I do have sympathy as I almost ended up there myself, had it not been for kind family members who gave us a roof. On the other hand, I have worked my a$$ off to get to where I am. Anyway, I was struggling with the cold myself yesterday so I gave her it and she said thank you. A clear "thank you", not just a grunt or a smart reply. I have to keep reminding myself that I can't help everyone but it's hard.
I popped £1 in the pot this morning (the other one from yesterday). I couldn't resist going to a bakers on the way to work to buy breakfast this morning(different route from the beggar or I might have bought her breakfast too). £3 change to go in the pot.

...[STRIKE]cheapskate[/STRIKE] very wise, Ruth. I hope you're feeling a whole lot better now. I've had an awful cough and chest since Saturday, just hope it soon clears up.
You're welcome re the star as I've just been so thrilled at all the help you've all given. I'm so looking forward to next Friday (19th) too! It's loooking soooo good already!!!!!! :j:dance::j:dance::j Happy, happy happy!!!! :money:
I'm feeling so much better, it has even been commented on in the office. Matt said last night "you must be feeling better, i haven't seen you cry all day" Oh i do feel sorry for myself when i'm poorly!! I really hope you get better. All the coughing tends to give you pains elsewhereand WOW!!! well done on that roadkill!!!!!!

I am feeling a million times better. Thank you love xI was going to but I bought a money tin fir money and didn't bother with bigger as only other thing was on my hands. I should have locked them away when I took them off if I am honest with myself. I am moving out in march (going to beg for sooner).
I'm sure moving out will work out cheaper for you in the long run. You'll feel a million times better for it too!!Been to our local animal rehoming place today just to have a look (as im being swayed to get a puppy) and there was a 10 month old c0cker spaniel in there  how did such a lovely and tbh expensive dog end up in an animal shelter
I would seriously have taken her home if her child age range hadn't been 14+
I don't think she'll be there long. Personally I really want a beagle
I just love them (there was a beagle cross in the shelter too but he was just too big for our home and I don't think it would have been fair on him to be cooped up in our house, he needed a farm or the like.
Oh decisions, decisions, DH said we shall wait until after our America trip, and if we are still as keen to have a dog then as we are now we will look at saving for one (and in the mean time we can keep going up the dog shelter . . . just incase . . . )
You will be very smart to wait Jakes-mum. The right dog will come along and you will know it when you see it. I adore poodles!! You should maybe look into them (no messy hairs all over the house and clothes)!! They take a fair amount of grooming though!!EverTheOptimist wrote: »I've deleted my post with the link as it didn't feel right somehow posting it on an MSE site.
Would you mind PMing me the link. I'd like to help sponsor if you want?
Christmas jumper day at work today!! This weekend is going to be so so busy. We have drinks with work this afternoon, i have to do all my christmas shopping, find something for my secret santa, groom Dot (poodle), sort Milos (collie) food out and find out why he's ALWAYS hungry even though we feed him twice as much as we should AND do the doggie christmas shopping. On top of all that the christmas events at the birdgarden start tomorrow!! I will be on the doors letting the kids in to see santa and fixing the laptops should the music or snowflakes stop!!

girlatplay that's kind of you. It's so easy to judge those we see on the street but we don't know their stories. I can't imagine being homeless at this time of year when it's so cold out. Sometimes I buy hot coffee or food for the homeless as I don't often walk around with a lot of change.
This year I'm volunteering at Crisis which is something I've not done in a while so looking forward to that

I pay for my shopping with a cc cause then I get points or cash back so does that mean any money from vouchers ect can't be counted in my SEALED pot total cause I transfer the money straight into my savings account? Also can I count the cash back money (from the cc) as it is transferred in the same way?
WHAT WER?!!! After all these years you've ONLY JUST read the rules?!!!!!!! That's the naughty step for you for sure!!! There was me thinking Kes was bad enough...but her Mum!!!!Anyway, it's all fine, and you can include money from vouchers and cash back sites, I know it's a bit confusing but you've explained it all so well, and it is ok. You're not the only one in this position I promise you. NOW you can get back to the naughty seat!!

That's just great, Cherry Burton (ok to call you Cherry?), you're away now! :j32b3in2013 wrote:I have dropped off all my giving tree presents tonight. Does everybody feel guilty as they walk into a police station? Or is it just me? Lol
Wonderful news about the tree presents,32b3!!Not sure I'd be happy about an Italian Christmas dinner, DH & I love our traditional, the family too. Next week may be the same as this, but at least 2 days separate em!!!! :j Though I see where you're coming from re walking into a police station - no, I've never felt guilty in doing so, though I always walk in professing my innocence that "I didn't do it...whatever it is/was!"
Thanks so much, Lynne, I think it must be a chest infection as now, several days later I have a very sore throat and signs of a cold; seems like our Hairdresser gave us more than a trim and a gift on Monday!Still, could be a lot worse.
DreamerHelen wrote: »I am feeling VERY down....I made a silly thoughtless comment to my Mum and now I'm feeling awful about it....I have sent her an Email to apologise but I always feel like I'm not worthy of her love and therefore I worry that she'll just walk away from me....even though I know logically that she won't....
Anyway....I'm sure all will be fine and she's probably not even thought about it since I said it....but I'm just feeling like an awful thoughtless horrible person right now
Also had a rubbish day as I was feeling really ill due to the Antibiotics for the Abcess....so spent the afternoon in bed feeling sickly...
xXx
Good to hear you enjoyed your Christmas meal, Helen. I bet you're right and that whatever the comment was that your Mum either brushed it off or didn't think as much of it as you did. Still, it shows you're caring, but us Mums don't hold grudges and soon forget the short-comings of our young'ns and I'm sure she will have done the same.
Sounds to me as though you're a little run down and vulnerable due to the abscess and antibiotics (they're renowned for it), both together making you feel quite rotten. If your Mum lives locally, pop and give her a lovely hug...maybe even a few flowers. She's probably fine, but the act itself will make you feel a whole lot better. :kisses3: Here are some {{{hugs}}} for you.Potting news - I have finally wrapped my Roses tin in Christmas wrap it looks really rather festive and if I do say so myself rather respectable. Hi Lucy, good to see you back. What's this I hear about counting your savings?!!!Behave yourself d'you hear!
Your Target's sorted, and I do hope nothing mars you from becoming debt-free in May!!!! Fingers Xed! :j
Are you sure about the charity link not being ok here, ETO? Rosy put one through to Just Giving a few months ago and that was fine. Give it some thought and see how you go or PM me and we'll go from there. Either way, best of luck and get ready with a bowl of ice cold water afterwards!
I'm so happy to hear your news, Merry!!! I reckon you're right about the blood tests too as they soon get in touch if things aren't ok. Have a wonderful weekend and really enjoy yourself and the hen do, why wouldn't you!
Oh dear, mcjordi, what a shame about the accident, sadly they happen to the best of folk, a slight lapse of concentration and......! Your Sis is good to you. :kisses3: My DH has just taken our DD to the Dr as she & had DH were in a prang last night, a woman went into the back of their car, not too much damage to the car, but our girl's back and neck bore the brunt of it. {Edit} Our lass has just come back and has acute whiplash and quite a few pills to help tht and her back. It could all have been a LOT worse, thank Heavens it wasn't!
BTW, I've just read your siggy, don't understand half of it, not happy about tother half!
I understand you, GAP, I'd forgotten where you lived so I see why it peeves you; soon be the longest day!! :j BTW, I feel just as you do re beggars, it's hard to decipher the question "are they genuine or not". She sounded extremely grateful for your contribution though which means a lot. Hopefully, she will have had some food in her as a result.I'm feeling so much better, it has even been commented on in the office. Matt said last night "you must be feeling better, i haven't seen you cry all day" Oh i do feel sorry for myself when i'm poorly!! I really hope you get better. It's good to hear that, Ruth. I'm positive I've got a chest infection AND now....a cold on top - lovely, but c'est la vie.I'll see how things go on Monday before going to the Dr.
Didn't I do well with that £5er, I'm still soooo chuffed with it!!!!!!
