little_sweetie - Wishing you a Happy Birthday. Enjoy your lunch.
Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 2013
  • Please may I join you? My DD bought me an enormous piggy bank for Mothering Sunday this year, and I've been faithfully potting £2 coins and shrapnel ever since. The plan is to use the money for the Christmas food shop, but I've no idea how much is in there :)
I'd better get some coin bags so I can start counting...!
    LBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go :o

  • Hi Sue-UU and everyone else.

I have counted all the change accumulated since I joined in feb and my total is £204.04 which i am very pleased with.

I never stated a target for this but i secretly wanted to have enough for my car tax, which is almost due and I have saved almost enough, which means it is £200 less to scrape together.

so there is it is my total disclosed as promised, when does the next one start?

  • Id like to declare my pot, seeing as i had some spare time this morning and decided to count. Total £86.15.
Nowhere near my target of £250 set at the start of the year. But am i worried? No, ive paid £6000 off my mortgage this year, and ive paid £3300 or so off one of the credit cards. Its also changed my mindset of what i do with my money. I used to walk into a shop and break a note for everything and always had loadsof change. Now i tend to count out the shrapnel in my purse to pay for things, using up all my change. Im not going to the cashpoint anywhere near as much so i always have more money in my account to pay off the credit card. So im happy with my 86 quid!

    Good luck to everyone

A very good afternoon, Potters! I wasn't able to get on the site yesterday as I had HUGE problems with my e-mail. :( I love my old system, but have now had to go to a different one..not bad to be fair, but old habits certainly die hard! :( Still, it's a load better than Live Mail which I hate as it's way too bright for my eyes. Have a lovely day all, and {{{hugs}}} to anyone feeling ill or low - get well soon.

I've potted a few £1 coins pinched from hubby when he said "where can I put these?" They were in my pot before he could think about it :D . A few odd coins in the odds & sods pot too.

I'm so excited now. I haven't kept track at all because I'll be tempted if I know how much I've got lol. The ££s pot is heavy though. I've also got my pots ready for the next challenge. I'll do the same again and have a ££s pot and an odd sods pot xx

Good for you re nabbing DH's "unwanted" cash, owlet!! You sound so very excited and it's lovely to see!!! :j

So many thanks, 32b3, I sincerely hope it does as 1 foot is getting so bad now, legs stiffening a great deal too. Well done on your £8!!!:D
    Hi Sue,

Anything is worth a try but I have new 'floaters' in my left eye which are right in the middle of my vision and 'flashing lights' which I was worried might be a detached retina  I am hoping things will settle down soon. Just awaiting my new £250 specs ( I had to buy 2 pairs  one for everyday and a 'computer' pair too)

I do hope your DD is on the right track re medication. It's such a worrying time for you and T. G is creaking along, thanks!

It's my birthday tomorrow and OH is at work so I am going to DD's for lunch...yippee!

I am sorting out my bank bags ready for next week, it's exciting!

Thanks so much, little_sweetie, much appreciated.

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!!!!! I'd not forgotten you, honest. Don't eat all this :bdaycake: at once and have a wonderful time at DD's!
What a shame you couldn't have had varifocals, they would have done for everything; took me a while to get used to them, but I'd never go back now.

I'm pleased you're sorted out now, Kerry, and well done indeed!!!
Had to open my pot and count up early as I'll be busy next week. Was I pleasantly surprised to find I'd saved £300 since joining the SCP in Feb!! :j :j I'm well chuffed.

Will be starting my new pot on the 6th. Sue, can I keep the same no for SCP 9?

Many congratulations to you, Dragon Lily, it's a terrific amount and I'm so thrilled you're so chuffed with it all. :T:j:T BTW, everyone keeps hold of the Nos they have, it's yours so take care of it!!!! ;)

Ahhh, I see, Lynne, well let's hope he picks up and stays in, though I think his Newsnight programme is is fort!, he looks better on there too! ;)

Thanks so much, Modesty, fingers crossed. DH wishes he'd never had his op done as the pain just gets worse and his stomach can't handle the blessed pills. The 19th (seeing the surgeon) can't come soon enough.

Well done, stormpassing, keep at it!!!
I have put today's pottage (£9.49) on the kitchen bench,to pot tomorrow-change from birthday shopping for DD.
    Are we nearly there yet,Sue?
    Are we there yet,
    are we there yet,

Well done you, Saver-upper - and NO, NO, NO NO!!!!!!! It's like having jakes-mum mark 11!!!!!! After today there are THREE more days to go!!!!

So sorry I missed you before sending my earlier post, Amy, it looks as though we clashed, but now having read through it, I am so happy for you, and to hear how you've changed your life around and benefited so much as a result is simply amazing! :D

Many congratulations on, under the circumstances, a great amount of savings as with everything you paid off you've done terrifically through this last year!!!!!!! Huge congratulations Amy, :T:j:T You're doing so, so well. So, all the VERY best to you for this following year, do as well as you've done during the last and you'll be chuffed to bits again!!!!! Don't forget we start again on Friday! ;)

  • Evening all,

Very long time and no speak, hangs head in shame. Well I have been well and truly off the MSE band wagon. Slaps wrist and makes promise to sort myself out. Lap top been out of action for months so not been on here.

Didn't even realise that it was the 5th for opening that's how bad I have been.

Well counted my dismal pot and am declaring £46.....

I have been trying not to touch my family allowance and have £1400 in my post office account for Christmas but this doesn't count.

I promise to do better next year and if you will have me back would like to sign up again.

Look forward to seeing what everyone has managed to save this year. Well done in advance.

    Lots of love mumof3 xx
