Excellent potting, Saver-upper! :j You did yourself proud by potting that lovely lot. Keep at it. Are you at your In-laws yet? I'm thinking you are, but not certain, but if so I hope everything is going well for all of you.

    Hi Sue,
No-still living in our [STRIKE]building site[/STRIKE] house. We have been so lucky with the weather-the builders have been able to work every weekday except one, since 21st Sept, when they started. They are still working building up the outer extension.Might be another 3 weeks before that is all "secured"-roof on,windows in,etc. Then they will demolish the kitchen/dining room, and we will have to leave.Don't know what I am going to do-inlaws don't have internet.Gonna have to start talking to my family in the evening or somethin' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Hang on,let me go and see what is in my purse to pot tonight-haven't spent today,so no change............

Another £5 note, £5 in pound coins and a little silver deposited. DH even contributed a couple of pounds of this. After thinking it was daft to do this challenge before Christmas he's now decided that the money may come in handy in aiding him to have a week off with the kids at Christmas (self-employed so no holiday pay)

He's got a good point but I really feel like saying I told you so (I won't) :D

It's very exciting following all the posts. Will continue potting like mad until the 5th (and after but probably not as madly) ;)

    SP x

Great savings, stormpassing! Well, it didn't take long for your DH to come round to seeing what a great way to save this is, perfect too with him being self-employed, so the kiddies benefit as well - in fact everyone's a winner in your house!!!! :j:j:j:j After Christmas you can tell him "I told you so"! NO DON'T or he may not be so keen to pot until later into next year! Keep him on side and saving hard. ;)

You're most welcome, Helen. BTW, any time you feel peckish between meals, keep sipping from a glass of water as it acts as a filler upper. Another tip is to cut an apple/carrot or both in pieces and keep in the fridge so you can go and nibble on something good for you and keep your mind off of the evil stuff!! One more tip, keep a few Ice Poles in the freezer and suck on one when you're peckish, they last a good while...thus keeping you away from the calories! Walking whenever you can is vital too. You'll do it because YOU CAN!!!!!!! Thinking of you, Helen, we all are! :kisses3:

I can see what you mean, Kerry..not buying so much, so having less to save I'm guessing. Still, all you do save is still you saving - whatever it amounts to! :grinheart
Potted £2.00 - can't wait to start counting. Money bags at the ready :D

Well done Dragon Lily! Don't worry, it'll come soon, until then revel in the excitement of it all - I do!! :j

Aha..I see, Saver-upper, still in the thick of it all then, though I must admit you're incredibly chipper considering all the upheaval you've been through and still have to come. Saying that, it must be fantastic to plan ahead to the new home you're creating, very well done to you both!! What's this - In-Laws with no internet???!! People are still able to live like that!!!! Ah, you'll be fine; play some games with them all, have fun. :D Best wishes to you all. xx

1p roadkill for me, a lot better than nowt, though decisions decisions about whether to count up the roadkill pot.... I just dunno  :undecided

There's some REALLY INCREDIBLE SAVINGS going on here, folks, I'm so pleased for you all, so proud of you all too! :DKeep it up everyone and just think how super happy you'll be this time next week!!!!!!!:j:dance::j:dance:

Enjoy the day, Potters, though it's a wet one here. Remember.......only 8  saving days to go!!!

Also jelly! great for when you want something sweet or fancy a pudding after dinner as it doesn't have many calories. Add a little fruit for when you want something a little bit more :)

I've joined Movember as a Mo-Sista. They have introduced MOVEmber this year where you have to do some exercise every day for 30 days so that's what i'm doing since i'd struggle to grow a 'tash haha. Should anyone want to follow my progress or donate i'll leave the linky. I hope that's OK Sue. I'm sure someone did before :A

28p added to the pot. Not much but if the OH treats me to a Chinese tonight i'll add £10 to the pot promise!

Why NOT, Ruth!!! I'm all for helping someone find a way to get to where they want/need to be, so you go ahead, Helen and help yourself in order to help your self...if that makes sense. ;)

Oi, Ruth - you say all that in your post, and it makes great sense, but then your last sentence.........???! A Chinese???? Shame on you! :naughty:

So, you're not going to tell your OH "I couldn't possibly have a Chinese in Movember!" :rotfl: So, after thinking it all through I guess you'll decline politely and now put the £10er in your pot as penance?! :A Yes, like that's gonna happen, and you'll now be telling us it doesn't begin until November!

She's right though, Helen, you are far more positive now and it's been very noticeable, stay focused! They say all things happen for a reason, I reckon yours was moving house - it's doing you a power of good!! xx
Keep on saving, Potters, and remember.......there are only 8  saving days to go!!!

  • Ooops, reposting below as I posted on the wrong thread. Thanks Sue for the PM and inviting be to count my savings pot here on the big day next week.

Hello Sue-UU and everyone  . May I join the new challenge please?

I was in the "Save a pound a day" on this year, and I put in every £2 coin too. I've just opened it and got well over £500, which is great, pre-Christmas. So I thought I'd migrate over here this year!

:rotfl: That worked brilliantly eh, Ruth! :D Credit where it's due though, you've both done brilliantly so you'd have deserved a treat before Movember begins - but IF..IF...IF you didn't succumb then fantastic!!!! :j How about getting ingredients for a delicious Stir Fry, we had one on Wednesday, it was soooo scrumptious and so very low on calories, does you the world of good too! All best wishes with it Ruth, I may just pop across myself and see what you're up to, though I saw this afternoon there was a weird fellar guarding the place, chap with a tash - you may know him! :rotfl:

I'm really pleased you're so happy with your achievements, Kerry, you've had a splendid year - so far, and I'm sure you're delighted with it all. All going towards such a good cause too! ;)

Hey Lynne - have I made a booboo with these blessed days after all????!! There was 8...but not 7 what happened to him! Come on you lot, own up - who took it?!!! :naughty:
Sleep well, SPCers, and be mindful.......of there being just SIX  saving days left!!!

Today is the first day these holidays I have actually gone out and done something with my children .Even though I have only been working a few hours a day during the hols,by the time I get home in the middle of the day, organise lunch,do a few bits, and with trying to keep ontop of this house,it hardly seems worth going out.Well, today was completely work-free,and myself and 4 kid-lodites went out with a friend and her 2,to visit a local English Heritage site.A lovely day had by all.We even packed a picnic, despite the weather tipping down all morning.
Tonight I emptied all the loose change I had in my handbag, into my pot: £4.49.including 4 £1 coins :j (There does actually seem to be a 50p coin lost in the lining of my handbag-I can feel it,but cannot see for the life of me,a tear where it might have escaped through.Might have to tear apart my £15 handbag to save my 50p piece and get it into the pot :rotfl::rotfl:.)
Where is jakes-mum?She hasn't been here for days!I hope she isn't going to be late for pot-opening day,or even, forget it altogether :eek:.She is probably busy penning a "Please Sue,can I open my pot now ,Sue-please?" letter. Come back jake's mum!!
