Think this is an excellent idea. And defiantly something I will consider doing.
But can I ask. How do you manage to save so much?
I do a £1 a day
Any eBay/gumtree sales
And cash back already
What extra ways to save so much is there?
I've only been able to save that much relatively recently - a new job was my "answer" to this (since June 2014 I've been on £10k more than in September 2013).
We also don't spend much on "extras" - we don't go to the cinema, clubs and very rarely to pubs. I don't drink alcohol or smoke and OH very, very rarely had a drink. When we go away at weekends we do free activities, e.g. going for walks etc.
Six years ago I was on £13.5k/year and could only dream of saving £12k a year so saved small amounts wherever I could. Every little helps and as someone already said, you've got to find out what works for you.0 -
I agree with Sanne - Anyone can be a saver, but its more a mentality than anything else.£2 savers club #33

Hi!
Can I join the challenge please? I am aiming for £10k this year (although hoping that I can manage £12k!).
My husband and I are saving for a deposit to buy our own house, so hopefully this challenge will get us off to a flying start :j
Thanks!

Hi, I would like to join the challenge as well, please! I have just started using YNAB, and can see some potential areas for saving money, and now that my children are all in school, the childcare bill has dropped a lot - I want to make sure that this saved money doesn't just evaporate over the year.
So my savings target is £12,000, which will be offset against the mortgage.0 -
I'd forgotten how addictive this can be. Just rounded up all of my sub budgets (fuel, food, fun money) and made a PAD to the savings. Doing well this month...but then I need to remind myself that it is only 4th Jan![STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000

Good luck with the savings in January everyoneSave £12k in 2015 #182 - £7,812.92/£10,0000 -
My first direct debit has gone out to Fidelity Funds today for my new investment portfolio. Only £250 and then I will see what additional amounts I can put in at the end of this month. I will send in the update form after all January payments gone in but excited to be off the starting blocks. Right now for my Monday exercise class.
