  • Happy new year folks, especially Slowly Fading!!! Lets make it a good one and smash our targets. Payday is on the 16th for me so will add a small something then. £12k to be "saved". Half of it will be getting paid towards debts. Good luck everyone, well done anyone that has started already.

  • Payday today so another £250 transferred straight into savings.

Due to get some cashback later this month so that will hopefully be added as well.

How do we get our saved amounts onto the spreadsheet? Do we have to submit the easy update link?
    Thanks :D

Sent £100 over so far but will update full at the end of month.

Had some bodywork done on my car today (£500 bill!) so that'll !!!!!! up savings for this month. Luckily I haven't had to take money out of savings to do this, it just means I haven't been able to add money to my savings.

As for what i'm saving for - it's all going anway in 4%-5% interest accounts until I decide to buy a house, whenever that may be!

    Hope everyone hits their targets!!

Probably won't be able to put more in until next Friday, but it's motivating to see what everyone else is up to!

It is interesting to hear why people are doing this challenge. For me it motivates me to think about every purchase I make. I read on a financial independence website about how a $million is made $10 at a time and I try to remember when I find myself thinking "it's only £5".

I don't think I would have saved anywhere near what I managed to last year without this site or the 2014 thread, I sorted my bank accounts to get the maximum interest on my savings, started shopping at Lidl and try to walk everywhere instead of taking the car. Everytime I feel lazy or week willed I remember that I will be posing my numbers on the internet for all to see and it keeps me strong!

Anyway, I will be quiet now but i thought I would share with the group as i am having a frugal Friday night in!

  • Well most of the money I had set aside is now gone on car repairs for OHs car. Oh well at least I had the money there rather than using a CC. Back to the drawing board.

I have just added a further £250 to my Vanguard LS60 fund so £500 put in so far this year. Will see nearer the end of the month whether we can afford to put in a further £500 to make my monthly target of £1000. Sadly I think we will have to pay around £800 for tree lopping this month so may not do the £1000. House maintenance is expensive :(
