I have added £100 to my savings account- my husband gets paid weekly, so we can make a transfer each week, and do another one on my (monthly) payday.

I am very overexcited about getting started with the savings- I am looking forward to each Friday rolling around so I can add to them! It is also really motivating seeing everyone else of the thread, and how you are all getting on :)

As well as the £100 I have transferred £50 to a short term savings account as our car insurance will be renewed next month. I am not counting this towards my target, as it will be going out of the account in a few weeks.

Like many of you, I am saving for a deposit to buy a house with my husband. I am hopefully that having a specific goal in mind will help motivate me when my resolve wavers...

A slight blow to the savings plan on the way... my cat is probably going to need an expensive bit of dentistry. Luckily we had saved already. I worked out years ago that cat insurance was not worth the investment, better to save up for any medical bills myself. And here we are...

But, she's worth it, lovely* thing.

*She's not lovely after killing things and leaving them on the carpet, or hair-balling on my coat.

Onwards and upwards! Look at me, Saturday night in. That's a probable saving right there!

  • So far so good, I'm on target for over £500 this month. Which will be a great start to my £4K target.

I won't update the sheet until the end of the month; but I'm really looking forward to what my January figure is going to be.

Anyway, I will be quiet now but i thought I would share with the group as i am having a frugal Friday night in!

Don't be quiet pal. I really enjoyed reading your post - that goes for all of you... it does motivate me when I read that there are like minded people and we all are moving one step at a time... towards our goals... quite inspiring really.

What did we achieve last year as a group total? Can we put that in the first post Slowfading so we can see how we compare and when we beat it :j
My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

Just had my ash trees lopped for £380 after having other quotes for the same work between £650 and £850. Two brilliant young men who have done a great job even though the weather is not good but even better the cost has not thrown my savings plan off course so I should still meet my £1000 target for this month :) Already paid in £500 and will wait until closer to payday at the end of the month before putting in the other £500.
