I just have a very simple spreadsheet that tracks what i've saved
In the past i've had a separate new ISA account for the challenge, but these days the challenge cash is all lumped together with other savings, day-to-day spending etc. in assorted current accounts etc. (TSB, Lloyds, Santander, the usual suspects) so it's the spreadsheet that tells me what i've actually saved.0 -

I'm not sure whether to continue to pay in to my Santander every day saver or move my current standing order to my ISA (which is currently empty!).
Please dont put it in an ISA. They are useless interest wise. Current accounts are much better such as TSB 5% etc even with tax deducted than an ISA tax free.

I'm going for a 'pay yourself first' strategy with this savings target so I can easily confirm that I have made my first £500 has gone into the savings account. I just need to make sure I last the month on what is left over now.Save £6k in 2015 - Jan £5000

I'm putting mine into interest bearing current accounts. If I leave it in my main account I know I'll fritter it.
I'm also not counting any longer term investments eg pension as its shorter term savings I need to meet my goals.MFW 2024 £27500/7500 Mortgage £129,500 Jan 22 Final payment June 38 Now £68489.08 FP May 36 Emergency Fund £20,000 100% Added to ISA 24 £8,060 Save 12k in 24 #31 £20,034.76/20,000 Debt Free 31.07.140 -
Hi everyone, I'd like to join in please?
DD1 is getting married next year and this thread is just the motivation I need to get the savings pot going.
Please could I be put down for £10,000?
Savings will be put aside at the end of each month, going to join a few other challenges too so I can keep on the straight and narrow.
Looking forward to getting lots of hints and tips from all you lovely people :beer:Save £12K challenge 2015 # 173£0.00/£10,0000 -

I've currently got three monthly savers - YBS at 3% (anniversary in March), Lloyds at 4% (anniversary in July) and FirstDirect at 6% (anniversary in autumn). The only one I'll probably keep after its anniversary is the YBS one as it doesn't mature. The other money I'll move into whatever current accounts are best at that point (Nationwide for £2.5k it seems and the remaining into my BoS); won't start another annual saver as hoping to have a big enough deposit to buy early next year so won't be able to have the money in there for another full 12 months.
Any remaining money is sitting in two TSB accounts at 4% and my Club Lloyds at 5% which is also my day-to-day account. Any excess money is moved into a BoS Vantage account and then fed back into the Lloyds account as necessary.
I'm also doing all day-to-day spending on a (cashback) credit card so keeping track of this (and how much I actually save) with an IPad app.
Wish it was as easy as in the olden days where you just needed one savings account but there you go...0 -
