  • I have added £250 to savings, I have updated sig. Hope everyone is well. SlowlyFading, a bit of a silly request really, but if #33 is not being used, and its not too much trouble, could I have it (pretty please). #3 is my lucky number. Thanks.

    What a month!!! Fantastic!

So come on, whats the money saving story?? :D

I am reluctant to put a link in as I post a lot on the forum and would like to keep my real identity private. The article even has a photo of me  Basically one of the big newspapers ran a competition earlier in the year to find Britain's best savings stories. I simply emailed a paragraph with my savings story. I am one of MSE's addicted compers enter loads of comps, so didn't think about it again until I got a phone call asking for a bit more information. Then I got an email saying I had won and asking if I would like a cheque or bank transfer for the £3,000 prize :)

I know what you mean about the identity thing. We put so much financial information up, I don't want people that know me, knowing my financial situation. Congrats on your win.

    Hi

Am posting April savings. Hoping to get back on track properly in October. Am currently trying to financially recover from a bout of illness. Very frustrating.

Declaring for April though month not up, have had an absolute bumper month with a couple of refunds including one huge refund of £1002 from Scottish Power - they had been overcharging me for power all last year and I was too dozy/busy to check (they had raised the direct debit twice even though I was already well in credit) - anyway have switched supplier now (through MSE Cheap Energy Club, obviously) and Scottish Power have now sent me the money. So my total amount for April is £2,667.

Thanks Prudent :) I should add they took 43 days to close the account even after they had been booted off and the other supplier had taken over, and then they told me they would take up to a further 10 working days to issue the refund!!! Nearly two months altogether. They were really taking the mickey, I thought. Anyway, now I know what they are like!! Well done to you on your savings, btw - really impressive! I would like to read your newspaper article too, but understand on the privacy thing why you might not want that. But good stuff!! :)

I have sent you a pm with the link cathybird, please don't post the link on the forum for the reasons above. I owe my story to the posters on MSE. It is a story for all of us who have stood up to companies like Scottish power and generally learned the skills from here that will help us make our own way. I am now at the end of my savings journey. I have £10,000 more than stated in the article as I entered earlier in the year. Whatever the next chapter is, it will definitely involve the shared wisdom on here.

Question - As you can see I am participating in a few challenges, I have separated this 12k challenge from the others, but just wondered if I get towards the end of the year can I add anything I have saved in the other challenges!!!

So what I have saved in £1 and £2 coins can this be added to my 10k target?

let me know if this is possible :-)
