Mid-month and I've tucked away £1k. Still awaiting bonus payment, so hopefully this time next week it'll be higher. I'll declare at the end of the month0

I have added £220 to my savings pot. I have updated signature.0

Another week.. another £125 added to savings pot. Updated signature.. now reached £2000...great ! Waiting for refund from water company which will be useful. Just counting the days to ditch and switch telephone company. Should cut down my outgoings. On the downside, had car MOT'd and serviced. Failed MOT cos it needs power steering hose/pipe fixed. Booked in for Thursday, hopefully will not be too expensive. Enjoying reading everyone's journey. Thanks to SF for keeping up with spreadsheet. There's lot of saving going on.#76 Save £12k in 2015 challenge

Hi everyone.
Long time lurker who has finally taken the jump to join in!
Please can I join with a target of £10,000.00 for the year?
My saving began in January so I will update once I have a number.
Thanks0 -
I don't report for till the end of the week but thought whilst I have a little time I would lob in a long message on this months actions!
First and foremost I bought 2 rings, a 1.38ct solitare diamond 18ct yellow gold ring which is bespoke... + a 18ct yellow gold wedding band which has 18-20 diamonds and beeding that links into the engagement ring... Its the 4th most expensive thing I have ever purchased (4.5k for both, but the highstreet jewellers wanted 15k for both!!!!) behind the 1st (which was bought this month too!!!). I completed on my second BTL flat which cost 115k with a rent of £550pcm (prelet till September 16). The location of the flat is awesome, and hopefully... touching wood... I won't have problems letting it out long term. The repayment mortgage is £430pcm so it will add a little to my pocket whilst I build up equity...
I really do want a third flat but I know its not prudent to do so... as I now have 2 mortgages (combined 155k) + a loan outstanding of £15k at 3.7%. Crazily the loan is my highest cost of debt I have, so thinking about firing 1k cash from my salary at that per month to clear it asap (saving 1500 over 5 years roughly) and then build up money and buy another flat again from a position of lower leverage.
I have just remortgaged my first flat too - and increased the payments to reduce the term from 22 years to 17... Basically my plan is to get 40% in each flat moving forward and then going interest only if rates stay this low and build up cash for either future investments, a home that I can live in or more flats...
I do actually want to buy a house and thinking that 175-200k mortgage might be sustainable but I am scared that I won't be able to develop passive income if I do that.... I am obviously getting married, and our combined income will be close if not above 80k.
Any advice would be grand and ill post my reply with my final figures for the month!
Good luck all and keep up the great work.My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.
48.78% towards 2015 target.
105.3% towards 2014 target. :j0 -
Hi
Number 66 reporting £700 for March.
It's payday on Friday so Aprils savings will get sorted then too
Thanks10lb to lose & keep off in 20204.5lb/10lb:rotfl:0 -
Hello all,
My March and April have kind of rolled into one, just due to timings of taking a dividend from my Ltd company (needed to time it for after 6th April i.e. in the new tax year!). It effectively means my end of March and end of April figure combined is a total of £12.5k.
I was hoping for a little more but have had to splash out on a couple of "home improvements" which I hadn't budgeted for - apparently sunny weather means my garden needs finishing offI have also had to tuck a little bit away for the taxman who will be asking me for some money in January so whilst it is a bit extra saved away, it isn't really "saved" as it is going to get spent so isn't going toward my figures  Finally I had racked up a little bit on a credit card due to the delay in paying the dividend so I have got that cleared too.
Current state of play after moving a few bits around is £30.5k thus far in 2015, so reasonably on track but plenty more to go. Good luck to everyone else for the remainder of the month, here is hoping the rays of sunshine don't lead to everyone having to purchase new garden furniture!!0 -
Great month for me too, with slightly over £24k added to April (part of my bonus payment). As mentioned earlier this month, I decided to pay off an exisiting loan, which reduced my April total by £15k.
As a result, I now doubt that I will manage to hit my annual target, due to this early repayment.
There is still comfort in knowing that this will save me £2300 of interest on what would have been the remaining period of the loan.Total Debt
12/2012 - £893k (mortgage and toys loans)
11/2019 - £556k (mortgage only)0 -

Hi,
Just seen this, is it too late to join this? I can add figures i've saved from Jan to present?
Would like to be put down for £6000 if that is ok? I may have some costly outlays this year so don't want to choose the 12k as if my costs are quiet high, I wont reach them but also don't want to go for a low figure incase I hi the figure way early so £6000 should be ok i think, might get more who knows.
Should we add interest we get on current savings or just put what we physically put in?
Thanks
Kev0
