We always get value fizzy water (it's nice to have with dinner and is a bargain at 17p for 2 litres), value frozen peas, value handwash. We used to get things like value aubergines and peppers - they're fine, just odd sizes - but nowadays we get a veg box.
I must admit, though, that when we had my dad's 60th birthday BBQ at the weekend we did hide all the packets from the Sainsbury's Basics crisps that we bought! Oh, and the crisps tasted fine!
I think the value orange juice is good but it's a shame you can't get 6-packs of it. Tastes exactly the same as the ordinary stuff to me; wouldn't be surprised if it WAS exactly the same.
Value binbags are absolute rubbish, though. They rip every time and I have stopped buying them.
you buy water?????? what's wrong with the stuff from the tap?0 -
Went to Mr T last night and listened very carefully to the comments around me as I bought about £68 of value items.
Not a snigger. Though I was annoyed to find that many of the items I used to buy have disappeared.

They have also stopped selling tesco value dishwasher tabs-they were brilliant.
I have 2 value things i will always buy over the brand names simply because they are identical and that is
Tesco value tortilla chips 18p large bag-great for bbqs, party or just for yourself-they are 100% the same (but smaller) than lightly salted doritos...and Sainsburys basics chocolate digestives (about 27p and exactly the same as McVities homewheat but smaller)
I am proud i buy these as i see other people buying the dearer stuff and feel like i have a bargain-i tell all my friends and they all buy these too now!
(Sorry if there is a thread for good basics,i can't find it)0 -
I had my day made yesterday by Mr T!! We're moving early next year and will only have a manky small Tesco that never has bargains, very few BOGOFs and very little value products - they don't need to there is no other supermarket for miles so they rip their customers off.
BUT I did know that they had just started to offer internet shopping in our area but I'd semi discounted it as the store is so crap...but my friend tells me the internet shopping comes from the BIG store 35 miles away in an area where the is competition so it has a much bigger range of products, bargains etc. I can't tell you how pleased I was :j I suppose it's just a little bit sad...
BUT the problem is, I've just spent three months swapping over to Mr A and getting used to SmartPriced products as I thought I was going to have to bulk shop at the Asda 30 miles away so I've now got to go through the whole process again with Mr T although at least I can get it delivered!Piglet

oh,they haven't been in my store for about 3 months...i check every time i go in there!(About 3 times a week)
Also tesco value fairy cakes are 49p for 12 and the standard tesco fairy cakes 99p for 12...ingredients identical......my kids love decorating these...same as previous poster with all the cheap sprinkles!0 -
Not completely on topic perhaps, but reading the OP reminded me of when I put 'cheap' stuff into a more expensive container recently, with interesting results..
My OH swears by Listerine mouth wash. I usually reluctantly buy it wishing I could get him to use a cheaper one - a few months ago I bought a cheaper one (Dentyl or something.. kind of 'mid range' one perhaps..) and he moaned about it, so I went back to buying the ridiculously overpriced Listerine again
Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought one of the cheapest Tesco ones: I didn't dare go for the 'value' one, so I got one that looked like it might be a bit better: 24 hour protection or somesuch. When the Listerine ran out, I poured the cheapie one into the bottle. I waited for him to use it a few times then said that I wasn't keen on 'that Listerine'. He said it was fine, and did the job. When I showed him the empty Tesco bottle, he was rather surprised: called me a sneaky moo but found it rather amusing.
People sometimes swear by a certain product, without having really checked the alternatives: a bit like when kids won't eat things because they presume they won't like them.0 -
Tesco value mouthwash is absolutely fine. I converted my fiance over from listerine and she hasn't looked back.Tim0
