thanks for the Replies and the points of view.

BTW I never renewed my license 12-13 months ago, I went through the proper channel and declared this. I had a confirmation Email from the Tv licensing. I have since had no contact from them or any company wishing to do an inspection.

My current premises has no external TV aerial, The internal aerail within the flat(that is still boxed and unused) belongs to the landlord otherwise I would just throw it out to avoid a conflict of opinion. My only devics that can receive a live TV signal are not tuned in. I am confident that if I recorded the meeting/inspection and demonstraighted all of this they would have a leg to stand on.

I am lucky that I have never watched PPV content. I only found out recently that this requires a TV license.

Well if they have ID (ad you checked it out) just let them in to prove that you don't need one. If you don't need one you got nothing to worry about

    Oh deary me..

I wonder just how many people invite people with no official standing or rights into their house for "an inspection"?

Your PC/Tablet/Phone may be capable of receiving live TV no tuning or detuning necessary.

Don't ever let any in to inspect anything.

or they can get a warrant to gain access. Again if you don't need one then you have nothing to worry about

Can they get a warrant if you do not need TVL?

    Tell me how.

Why invite people who have no right to be there into your home?

    Very odd attitude.

They can get a warrant if they have a enough evidence to get one. You are aware that watching live broadcasts is a criminal offence, so warrants can be granted for this reason

    Yes I know that.

    But the question was:

If you do not need a TVL how are they going to get a warrant?
