TBH, I'm not sure if it's just because of the girl that the OT has been taken from her. She's a temp and, although she's a nice girl, she's not that great at the job. Took me 45 minutes to sort out the mess she'd created in the fitting room the other day.

Well done on winning the solar lights :T - it's lovely to receive unexpected prizes :)

    Thanks, Emz:)

Probably that's it then and you'll get the overtime you want. You may even be able to pick up some of her cancelled slots too:T. It's horrible working with a colleague who doesn't pull their weight isn't it? I've suffered a lot of them in my time:(. Don't take on too much, though, we want you in tip-top health for your dream holiday:)
  • I hope everyone's well this sunny Sunday (well, it is here for a change) morning.

Good to see such a lovely turn out of supporters for Andy's wedding yesterday. I think Kim is absolutely gorgeous (hair, teeth and a smile to die for IMO) and she is invariably chic. But what was she thinking with that ghastly wedding dress:eek:. The embellishments were OTT and the fit of the dress itself was so unflattering with far too much ruching and fabric round the bust. It made her look a bit matronly:(. The bridesmaids' dresses probably cost a packet but the colour of the fabric and the embellishments on them just looked a tad tacky. I'm sorry to say that I, for one, was bitterly disappointed as money was obviously not a consideration and she could have chosen anything.

Probably there are many who will disagree but it's just my opinion. Andy and Jamie looked very dashing in their kilts though and Judy was so svelte and stylish. Everyone looked happy, that's the main thing. It was their day after all:beer:

The bridesmaid dresses were the same colour as when I was a bridesmaid a while ago.
I thought they looked happy & thats what it is all about.
He did Dunblane proud &hopefully that helps to lessen the memories of that dreadful day in Dunblane's history.

I agree, beanielou, they did look happy and I wish Andy and Kim a lifetime of happiness together:beer:. It was very heartening to see the community coming together for such a happy event. There's obviously a very strong sense of togetherness in Dunblane and Andy is much loved there.

By the way, what I said about the dress was just my opinion (although I've heard several others say something similar). Maybe it was the angle the photos were taken but none of them that I've seen today (apart from the back view) have changed my opinion. Something less fussy and smoother fitting(like Kate Middleton wore) would have made Kim look even more stunning.

I was a bridesmaid in the late 70s and had to wear a dress that pink colour. Even the bride confessed later that she'd made a mistake over them:(. You say yourself that you wore that colour 'a while ago'. You don't say how long ago it was but it just looked a bit old fashioned for today somehow. Still, I expect they wanted something to brighten up what can be dull days so early in the year.

Hi CBC and Lou :) - I thought Kim looked lovely and so happy.

Well, I was supposed to be at work today, but looks like I've got a chest infection. I went in Friday evening and felt rough - sharp pains when I breathed in etc - thought it was just that smog thing they were warning people about. Felt rough yesterday morning, but went in anyway and struggled through. It was my mum's 70th birthday yesterday, so we went out for a meal in the evening - had several coughing fits in the restaurant - very embarrassing.

Woke up much the same this morning, so called in sick. I'll get myself off to the doctor/hospital tomorrow for some drugs.

    Emz xx
  • Sorry you were too ill to work, Emz, but glad you are going to see the Doc soon. It may well have been the pollution that started it off but these things linger once they get started, especially in your case I expect, so some medicinal help sounds good.

I doubt anyone would have minded your coughing fits in the restaurant, apart from being worried for you that is, and were probably just happy that you were all together enjoying a happy family occasion. to Mum.

    Take care xx

About 5 years ago I was a bridesmaid.
Funnily enough yet another picture surfaced on FB the other day

Hope you feel better soon Emz.
    When is new car day?

Thanks CBC and Lou :A (Lou, new car coming in mid-June but haven't got a specific date yet).

I have got a chest infection - went to the doctor yesterday to get some drugs. I was supposed to work yesterday and today, but have called in sick just to give time for the antibiotics to kick in. If I were just sitting behind a desk all day, I might have gone in, but being on my feet for 4-6 hours when I feel this rubbish isn't going to help me. Work agreed and I've said I will try to go back on Thursday evening, which is only a 3 hours shift, and then I'll have another 3 days off before I'm due back in again on Monday next week.

Sadly, we have taken the decision to cancel the holiday :(. Some things have come up and we just can't afford it. It was always going to be a struggle, and a large part of me knew that it was a pure waste of money.

Instead of earning extra money now, I'm going to dive into comping in earnest - I really want to win a holiday so we can at least go somewhere. I also want to try to win a new phone for myself.

  • Really sorry about the holiday decision, Emz, as I know how much you were looking forward to it. From what you've said in your postings about it though I got the impression that you've been worrying a lot about the cost of it. We all know you'll have thought long and hard about deciding to cancel and I agree with beanielou that it's probably for the best.

I hope you'll be able to find something cheaper, or better still, that you'll win a lovely holiday. Practically every major prize comp is for a holiday these days (annoying for me as for various reasons concerning OH we can't travel very far from home:(). Go for it, Emz, I'll be keeping everything crossed for you:j.
