While I'm all for you easing up, is there no chance of a few weekend shifts?

I work every other weekend, but have got this coming weekend off as leave. TBH, I love having weekends off, so will try to avoid working extra then if I can.

    Thanks Buffy :)

I've had a nice restful weekend so far. Friday I did absolutely nothing except watch TV and play with the degus.

Yesterday I did a bit of housework, but my sister also came over and we watched movies and ate pizza. I've been round my mum's for the most of today and have managed to sell 3 of the things I put on Gumtree for her the other day. OH and I are off to watch Insurgent tonight.

I'm working 2-8 tomorrow, 12-8 Wednesday and 5-9 Thursday, so not too bad this week. OH's parents are down at the weekend - no comment.

How lovely to have some 'girlie' time with your sister:j. Much needed and appreciated by both of you I'm sure.

Maybe OH's parents have a dislike of rodents and won't be staying with you any more once they see you have the degus (sweet though they are....the degus not OH's parents:rotfl:). My Mum had a phobia about any kind of rodents, even pet ones, and wouldn't even enter a house where any were kept:eek:. Well, you can live in hope can't you?:D

    Morning :)

I know I say this each time, but sorry I haven't posted. I need to make an effort to post more.

OH is dying because he's got an abscess in mouth. With dental treatment and other stuff he's bought because of it (including a £20 taxi ride because he couldn't 'stand to be at work a second longer' and I was working so I couldn't pick him up ), it has cost about £100.

I'm struggling financially this month because I paid my sister and BIL some money I owed them (£300). Good to pay off a debt, but it left me skint. I've sold my precious iPhone to get me through the month and got another cheap phone. I'm seriously missing it already, so am making plans to get another one with Amazon vouchers ASAP. Even if it's a lesser model.

Firstly though I owe my sister £18 worth of Amazon vouchers as she got the kid's Easter presents for me from her account. Will get that paid back by the end of next week.

I'm trying not to panic about paying the holiday off right now. Nothing as been paid off it and it has to be paid 10 weeks on Monday. No pressure!! I've added up our income over that time, and it is definitely doable:

    OH's wages: £6,600
My wages (roughly): £1,400 (I get paid again 2 days after it's due)
    DLA: £822

The tax man also owes me about £400 and I'm hoping that will get paid back once the new tax year arrives.

I need to be earning extra income though, which would help a lot. I'm thinking £1,000 over the next couple of months (not including overtime at work).

Anyway, I best get on. I'm supposed to be tidying the house up for when OH's parents arrive later. I'm then meeting a friend for lunch (my turn to pay :( - should only be £15-£20).

Went for lunch. We waited 45 minutes for the food, and the chips were overdone when we finally got the meals. We complained, got money off the bill, and I ended up paying just £7 :j

We're going out for a meal tomorrow night with OH's parents, but I've got a birthday voucher for a free meal (even though my birthday isn't for another month), so I'll use that.

    So, challenges for April:
    1. Earn £500 extra (not including overtime)
    2. Save £100 in Amazon vouchers towards iPhone
    3. Get holiday below £4k
    4. Go frugal and get freebies, money off vouchers etc, to cut costs
    5. Read a chapter of my book every day ('me time').
I'll try to exceed those targets where I can.

Grrr - Spent £20 on shopping and a Chinese meal tonight because OH's parents are here. They didn't offer to pay anything towards it. We're going out for breakfast tomorrow, so they better pay, or else!!!

They didn't even drag themselves out of the house to go and get it - OH and I did. I might try that trick when we have breakfast tomorrow though - 'Oops, I've forgotten my purse!!' ;)

    MSE highlights of the day:
    • Put aside £20 for meal with friend, but ended up only paying £7.
    • Got a voucher for a free pack of Cif wipes from Tesco - just need to find them now (our local one didn't have them, but it's a small shop)
    • Booked free tickets to see Fast & Furious 7 a week Monday with Odeon Premier points, thereby saving £10.75 (OH's choice of film - certainly not mine!!).

OH's parents paid for breakfast this morning and have said they will go halves with the meal tonight. Let's hope they stick to it.

I've spent most of the afternoon catching up on my surveys. I haven't managed to redeem anything yet, but am awfully close on a few sites.
