But that is like ML saying - please do read the small print for a second isnt it ?unholyangel wrote: »Well I can understand people who have no need to contact MSE not being aware it was there.
And I certainly can't speak for everyone.....but if I'm specifically looking for a way to contact a company, the first thing I'll do is look for a "contact us" page.
In other words....its in plain sight for those who are actively looking for a way to contact MSE.
But there is a contact us picture of 3 people at the top right of the forum so people would not fell the need to scroll down.
Im not saying I agree with the poster but more playing devils advocate about the bottom section of the forum not being as porminent as it could be.Dont rock the boat

That will certainly help those unwilling or unable to scroll to the bottom of the page, and I am really unsure that it could be made much more prominent.
By clicking on those three people, one can also follow a route to the complaint webform I mentioned in my earlier post.
Specifically:
1) click on those three people,
2) click on Site FAQs,
3) click on Technical Problems,
4) then choose How can I complain about, or thank MSE?
5) continue with the instructions given in post #30.0 -

Thats only for contacting the forum team regarding forum issues. Go onto the main site and that picture/link isnt there (but the contacts link down the bottom is).
I'm not saying the contacts link is prominent, just saying it doesnt necessarily have to be as those looking to contact them will actively be seeking such a link. I mean its not like its hard to find. Took me about 5 seconds and I had no prior knowledge of where it was or how to contact mse.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Yes there is, and thank you for pointing it out.

It is laudable wealdroam that you should so valiantly defend the ethics of this site in particular the issue of contact information.
However, it needs to be stated that the contact links are either inappropriate or massaged underneath obtuse language.
And it is important to understand that it is necessary for this site to maintain public consumer trust which it is unable to do if it does not have clear and appropriate referenced contact information.0 -

All I was doing was pointing out to you that you were mistaken when you said in your original post:MSE has no way of contact - there is no online form, there is no email, there is no phone number.
There is no way of contacting MSE if a 'third party' offer on MSE website fails to deliver the 'goods' - offer as advertised and the offer receiver points the problem back to MSE....it needs to be stated that the contact links are either inappropriate or massaged underneath obtuse language. And it is important to understand that it is necessary for this site to maintain public consumer trust which it is unable to do if it does not have clear and appropriate referenced contact information.
I certainly do not need to understand that.
If you are offering advice to MSE on how they should be 'maintaining public consumer trust', then perhaps you should pass that feedback to them via their contacts facilities.0 -
Oh, I am not defending any ethics.
All I was doing was pointing out to you that you were mistaken when you said in your original post:
I am pleased to see that you now realise your error and have modified your stance to:
...and that I do agree with.
Important for who to understand?
I certainly do not need to understand that.

No I think you are misunderstanding the whole issue which is about this site not being fundamentally honest.
And there is no appropriate link on MSE for the issue. The one referenced under Technology did not refer to consumer issues.
And the disparaging disclaimer by MSE regarding contact through written communication could not in anyway be construed as promoting confidence in any of the site content.0
