out of interest...has any one been refused an account on the basis they have opened too many?

second question, would people still have opened this account if the incentive was only £100 due to the rigmarole?
    Q1. Not yet.
    Q2. Yes.

Is this the Barclays / Virgin Money / RBS / HSBC / Lloyds / Santander (delete as appropriate) Marketing Department doing some market research? :rotfl:

So, I take it that the only reason to open the Current Account Direct as opposed to the Current Account Plus is that the Direct account is paying 2% on balances of 3k in return for depositing 1k a month into it? But either will attract the £150 incentive?

Not necessarily. The Current Account Direct also has a very competitive O/D rate at 9.9% EAR (although I think they've very recently introduced a monthly fee as well?

All of their "personal current accounts" will qualify for the incentive (according to the incentive T&Cs).

Many thanks. I'm not interested in overdrafts. I'm purely after the £150.

I was going to xfer my Barclays current account to this but dont want to leave Barclays. So logged on to my Barclays with the intention of maybe opening a spare account that I could use to do the move. There is no link in my Barclays for opening a new account with them so I think I've had it. Unless anyone knows of another way I can do it?

Yes you are correct! I had noted the account but I hadn't followed this thread too closely until now. I was a little put off by the opening process, which does sound to be elongated.

Its a pity you can't get an account with another bank, and switch that instead. Looks like you might be stumped.
