Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Has anyone else switched without having a debit card number as requested on the forms.
I am switching an old Flex Direct which I had left dormant and unfortunately I cut up the debit card and can't find any record of the number.
I don't want to risk any delay by requesting a replacement from Nationwide if I don't actually need it!0 -

If you have never had a card linked to the 'switcher' account, you can obviously switch without one. However, I'm fairly sure that if you have a card, you will need to provide the details on switching. I would get a replacement card asap0 -

M&S wouldn't accept a switch from NatWest for me last year when I told them the debit card had expired. Furthermore, NatWest wouldn't issue another as I hadn't been using the account...so I closed it there and then!
So it isn't worth the risk in my opinion.
It's been mentioned on here before, but if you're going to use these current accounts purely for savings, you still ought to take the debit card. But if you do subsequently decide to destroy it, at least make a note (somewhere safe!) of the 16-digit number, expiry date, and CVV.0 -
Thanks chaps - I had a nasty feeling that might be the case and I will definitely not be in such a hurry to cut them up in future (or as you suggest at least keep a note of the number).
I had taken advantage of the Flex Direct offer and opened four and had a paperwork declutter when they ended without thinking they might come in useful for a switch in the future.
I'll get one ordered sharpish and hope it doesn't take too long.0 -

Yes you can definitely switch without a debit card. I switched a TSB account to YB and this account had no debit card. Same number of days too.£47605.33 outstanding in C.C (£8000 Interest free till January 2025)0 -
I applied for a Natwest current account last year - completed the application on line on the Thursday afternoon and by the Saturday morning the debit card had arrived in the post. I wasn't an existing customer either. Just a suggestion for those who need switching accounts quick!
If I lose a card/it stops working it can take more than a week for a replacment with some other banks when I am already a customer.
You definitely need to know your debit card number to switch - its always on the form/online applications and acts as an extra security check. They want to know you know the debit card number as well as the sort code/bank account - and logically you would have the former if it was your mythical 'main account'. Lots of friends/relatives/customers might well know your address/DOB and bank account number - its unlikely they would also have your debit card details.0 -

Any advice as to how to get a call back to open an account. Can't believe "any time" isn't an option. Put Saturday 9-1 in earlier this morning but no call. Now trying Saturday 1-5. When will they try again if they don't manage to call me? Before next Saturday hopefully.0

Anyone else hit a brick wall with this? I called, applied on the phone, approved, paperwork was to be sent...weeks later I called again agent said the initial call handler forgot to progress my account and she would have the documents sent out to me...Another 2 weeks+ I've heard nothing from Clydesdale...0
