Next one up will be the Tesco savings DDs. You heard it here first.

I don't know. I sort of half think that Tesco only have that option to catch customers who are trying to meet DD requirements... On the hope that maybe they'll one day put some money in them....

Thats what i was wondering about - apologises i didn't phrase it very well. How would I create a donor account? just pop in the bank and ask to open an additional account? would I need to set up a standing order or a direct debit for that account… only to instantly switch it?

Easiest way is do it via online. Log in your online account, go to products and apply for a current account. That's it.

When the new current account is active a few days later, you can apply for a current account with YB/CB and ask to do a switch with your old bank (use the donor account).
You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

I created a donor B'clays account (already with them), but I had to make an appointment to do it in branch. I had tried online, but it said I had to visit a branch.

I successfully created donors online with Nationwide and Natwest.

Sorry – I know this question has probably been answered before but it’s a long thread.

Re the Current Account direct. know you can’t have more than one sole Current account direct account with the same bank – but can you have one with Yorkshire and one with the Clydesdale (i.e. two sole accounts in total – or in theory 4 including joint accounts).

No, only 1 sole Direct accross both banks. But "countless" Plus accounts.

    .
Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition

  • Further to my failure to open a second account, I tried again today and had a more successful call. Second account and switch now in progress. This adviser hardly asked any questions about purpose of the new account. Seems to be pot luck who you get.

So I wouldn't need any money in that account, or to have it open long before 'switching'?
    Sounds suspiciously easy!

Neither do you need any money in the donor account nor have it open long before the switch.

Be aware, as fuzzgun19 said below, you need to do it in branch with Barclays. I don't know about this as I don't have an account with them.

£1k paid in Dec 22, Switch completed Dec 28. Still no sign of the £150 incentive, does that sound correct?
