He is referring to the Current Account Direct which you can only have one of in your own name and one in joint names. Any of the other current accounts (Plus, Control, Readycash etc.) you can have as many as you want.
Yes - unless an edict has come down saying this has gone to far and we are not going to allow multiple openings for the moment as our systems can't cope and we are paying loads of £150s for no long term benefit for the business.
They could simply be putting up the barriers!0 -

Well if they have they haven't told the woman I was speaking to tonight0 -
I opened a second account over the phone on Friday, waiting for the forms to arrive for that. I opened 3 new dummy accounts over the weekend, might just wait for the debit cards to arrive for those, then pop into a branch and open two more YB accounts. Might as well take full advantage of this offer!Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
Just tried to open a second account. It was made very clear that they don't want applications just for the £150. Asked what accounts I had elsewhere etc, and what I'd be using the account for. Didn't go through application.0

Have a cuppa, then call back...be positive.:T0 -
Switch completed 17/12
£1000 paid in (and straight back out) 22/12
Another £1005 paid in and out (just to make sure) 08/01
Switch incentive paid 26/01 (evening) :j
I'll be switching out pretty soon to another joining incentive. The only thing which has impressed me about Yorkshire bank has been the punctuality of the £150 incentive being paid. Account opening procedure is ancient, internet banking not very good, security token pointless and annoying, 'favourite ???' security question is stupid and I never was able to get the mobile app to work.
I never intended to stay long but now I can't wait to leave!
*EDIT* - Thanks for the £150 thought, don't want to sound ungrateful.0 -

There are a lot of reasons on this thread you can use to open an account. You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

I sent Mrs Anon on a mission to open an account in branch - I normally just do them all online but obviously can't for this one. She said she was asked to provide proof of where the money was going to come from to fund the account (obviously did not have this with her, why would you?) and this should match the account that she was wanting to switch? As Mrs Anon is not overly confident when dealing with these sorts of things, she abandoned the mission
.
She may have just got someone being overzealous?
May try again with her on the phone and me coaching her with any more tricky questions. I still only have opened one account so may also give it another go and note the questions they ask so that I can fully brief her (I thought I had).

Yeah. I said I wanted it as a spending account for groceries etc, but the guy was quite adamant that it had to be used as a main account suggesting a wage should be coming into it. I might try my luck again later, hopefully with a different rep.0
