Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Now that my first incentive has paid, I'm really tempted to try another! I have an old Halifax Easycash account knocking about which I used to use for the Electron card to switch out and it's an easy £150 despite the slow switch out.0

Say that you will have regular money going in from an external account from your wages. Or just say it will be your main account to get through the call - if on the phone you have to complete the switching form anyway and can use a "not main" account to switch?0 -

If you login to Halifax you may find you can quickly and easily upgrade that account online to a Halifax Reward - regular £5 per month if you meet the conditions. Their system is also quite quick for applying for a new account online if you need a dummy account to switch ...
I checked and one of the accounts I was planning to switch, although not used, is one of my longest established accounts that appears on my credit reference files (over 18 years ), with a few open longer than this not appearing on the credit file. As a result, is there any benefit leaving this one open as it is useful for answering the question about how long you have had a current account at another bank? Or would they not see that level of detail from a credit search anyway?0 -

I already have a Halifax Reward accountand my oldest account is a naff Natwest account which I've had for donkeys from my irresponsible student days
I barely use it now apart from depositing the odd cheque in there. I can't remember when I opened the Electron account with Halifax.

People have been known to have more than one Halifax Rewards account and if the upgrade option was there, I know I would probably use it ... before applying for another Halifax Current to switch (probably wouldn't actually open one to switch with them, I quite like the £5 per month!).0 -
Does anyone know if it's possible (and if so how) to ask the new bank to alter the bank account to be switched over, after it has received all the forms for switching?
I'd rather not cancel the switch as it may be the case that the new bank won't open or be able to open a new bank account
Reason is I can now transfer a dummy account in preference to my Halifax Reward giving me £5 every month0 -

I wouldn't mess with the transfer, particularly with Yorkshire's processes
I suggest you quickly log in to your Halifax account and see if you can open another Current Account - links are on the right hand side. This is much quicker as an existing account holder as you already have the login etc and I think you fast track through the application process and may avoid credit checks etc (the account is visible the next time you login, from memory, before you even receive the cards etc).0
