Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Hi Moneysavers!
After an hour on the phone to a very friendly gentleman from Yorkshire Bank this afternoon.
2 questions have arisen: has anyone else been told this (I suspect it was just the member of staff being wrong)
1. Re: paying in £1000 pcm on the Current Account Direct - I have been told if I don't pay in £1000 I will recieve a letter and may have to pay fee's. I don't recall seeing this, anyone else been told of potential fee's once we all ditch the account (once incentive has been paid)?
2. I opened up a Current Account Plus as a side account for Bills, the advisor told me (while laughing and being jovial) I will not get £150 incentive, this contradicts the Terms and Conditions providing I do pay in £1000.00
Any thoughts on the above points?
Cheers

Until someone confirms they have received £150 two or more incentive payments we can only debate - as far as I am aware no one has yet. Could they use the reference to 'one' in this sentence to imply only one payout per person - probably not?
"2. To qualify, you must:
(a) complete a full current account switch to one of our Personal or Private current accounts using the
Current Account Switch Service, which includes the completion of an Account Closure Instruction for
your Old Account:"
Re the current account direct the £1k payment monthly gets you the 2% interest on balances - if you don't pay in £1k my understanding if they would simply downgrade you to the plus account? The plus account allows you to open the savings account plus - which pays a higher rate of interest (0.1% currently!). So if they suggest this is an issue why not ask to downgrade?
As for this issue about why you need a second account - there is nothing in the terms and conditions that say you cannot use it just for bill paying. Perhaps the call centre person was just playing with you - they must frankly be sick to death of doing these account openings and the same 30-45 rigmarole all day every day. Maybe the new owners will move the two banks into the internet age for account openings?

Not sure if anyone else has enterprising ideas for second and third accounts - and why you need them?0 -

He is referring to the Current Account Direct which you can only have one of in your own name and one in joint names. Any of the other current accounts (Plus, Control, Readycash etc.) you can have as many as you want.0 -
