What reasons have people used for opening multiple accounts?
    cos I wanted another £150 incentive :p

Can we think of any other reasons

I have some money I want to hide from my partner/family
I run a dodgy business and want to launder my cash
I am trying to hide some cash for a relative to reduce their social care charges?

Because frankly why else would you open 4 or 5 current accounts with the same bank in the space of a few weeks - unless there was a £150 incentive involved.:D The pretence is crazy!

  • Many thanks to the useful posters on here (YorkshireBoy, Colsten and Archi in particular).

I'd discounted this in November on page 3 of this thread and so not revisited the thread. After reading the 40 odd pages its become obvious (due to a tweak in the T&Cs) that I'm eligible.

    Thanks again
  • The switch date for DH and I (two separate accounts opened in branch) was 16th December when £3k went into each account. On 24th December it occurred to me that I should maybe pay another £1k into each account just in case the original switch balance did not count. To date neither of us have received our 'incentive' but I suppose I just have to wait until 60 days have elapsed. I wonder if those who have received their £150 opened their account(s) by telephone. Can anyone confirm please. The 'randomness' of the incentive payments just seems odd so I wondered if there was a difference between the two methods of opening the account!

My first 2 accounts opened in branch 9 days apart, incentives paid 33 and 28 days respectively after completion of switches.

I asked the question today and was told that a switched balance of 1k is fine and counts.

I opened 2 current acc plus as advised. No problems, and the 45 minute call (10 mins to initially answer) was well worth it.

I now have 1 current acc direct, and 2 current acc plus.

Not sure if I have the bottle to do another.

I just hope they pay out!

  • Tried to open two more Plus with YB but I got referred. I think it is because my account isn't opened yet - I asked the advisor before if this is still okay and she said yes.

Will see what the undertakers say about it this week, probably should be okay because my account will be opened by the time they will look into this. Hmph.

Will see what the undertakers say about it

Let's hope they won't bury you :rotfl:
and instead let the underwriters decide about your application
  • She's getting the better of OH today, really trying to persuade him not to open the account.
