Everything seems so 1980s with everything being branch/post and phone related - the internet is almost an afterthought.

    What else can be said

Just going through the rigmarole with CB now.

Can I also open a YB one, or additional CB ones?

Still no sign of any incentive payment into my account, which was opened mid-Dec, switch completed 5th Jan, and £1000 deposited the next day.

Contrast that with Halifax, where I opened an account on 14th Jan, completed the switch on the 22nd, and had the incentive paid today (the 23rd). And at no point did I have to use the phone or fill in forms for posting. And if they pay up via quidco, it'll almost be the same amount as Clydesdale too for a tiny fraction of the hassle.

My switch and £1k payment was more than two weeks before yours – and still no sign of my £150. Others have switched/paid later and had their funds.

You might assume there is a system – they check weekly who has met the criteria and credit the £150s at the same time – but it all seems very random!

I accept the deadline is 60 days – so I could be waiting until mid February – so no point asking them yet.

I have just switched another account to YB Plus, I asked the lady I was talking to about how many of these accounts can be opened and qualify for the switch incentive, she told me there was no limit as long as the reasons given for opening the account where valid reasons that they accepted. So there are no account opening limits, you just may need to be creative with your reasons.

    .

Just out of interest in terms of opening two or more accounts with them:

What are examples of acceptable reasons for needing a second (or fourth) CB/YB current account – bar the £150 incentive?
Do they ask you for your customer number/account number for your first account – presumably that speeds up any credit check as you are already with them
Is it easier/quicker to open a second account if its with the same bank (e.g. two Yorkshires rather than one of each) – or haven’t people noticed any difference?
If you get 'referred' - is this sorted out quickly?
Would opening in a branch be easier – so you can argue you want a branch account and a postal one?

From what I can see it depends on the call centre person you speak to – but would welcome views!

Just opened an account with Yorkshire after already having one with Clydesdale... woman was a bit miffed by the sounds of it haha, but she said to me you could open 5 accounts with Clydesdale and still get the incentive as long as the requirements are met... not sure I can bothered to open any more though.

My first 2 were in branch, (YB), 9 days apart, both took about 25 minutes.

Third was on phone, (CB), about 25 minutes.

Fourth on phone, (CB), about 2 weeks later, about 25 minutes.

Fifth on phone, (YB), day after fourth, about 25 minutes.

I gave them the account numbers but the time did not seem to be any quicker.

Branch is quicker re opening and switching account as it is opened there and then, sort code and acc number given to you and the switch date can be given as well meaning switch date can be a week later, on phone you need to wait for the forms to arrive then return them, all taking time re switch date.

    I have never been "referred".

The bit where the switching offers says "switch your main account" doesn't mean anything then if they are allowing people to benefit from the offer more than once then:?

It's the terms and conditions that count, not marketing material and the terms make no mention of "main" account. Indeed it would be hard to define and enforce really. Most banks would say "must switch 2 direct debits" but YB/CB don't.

Also so many accounts in a short period shows up on CRA report. How will that effect the credit score?
