Looking at setting this up as a first joint account witht the hubby for bills etc. technically we don't have an account we can ditch although I have a very old halifax I can close but we only use that for food shopping money. Do you think it would work? Between us we can easily pay £1k in and I'd move most of the joint direct debits. Thanks0

Yes it should be ok. It can be any current account which is part of 7 days switch service.0 -

My switching pack finally turned up today
. Nearly two months since account opening, three follow up phone calls and the last one, two weeks ago, after being transferred multiple times I was told it will be here the next day or the day after as it was being sent recorded delivery personally by the manager. Letter dated 20th arrived today. Their systems are shocking.
When I say I have received the switching pack, I have received one copy of the paperwork (letter refers to two and I should keep the second, there is only one!) and I should return the completed form in the enclosed envelope - no envelope is enclosed. As all the forms are blank templates, why can't they include them on their website for you to print off !!!!!!. I am going to photocopy them and see about opening a few more accounts - send the forms back before the pack is even received, that should mess with their heads! I may even print to PDF and put online for other poor souls dealing with this system :A.
Run a bank and my bank account? I wouldn't trust them to run a bath!0 -

Personally I would recommend a joint before you start the application process with Yorkshire or Clydesdale as Anon's post above demonstrates!
And then when its all done you wait and wait and wait for the £150 - no system or logic as to when you get it based on switching date or £1,000 credit date. Its probably the hardest £150 I will ever earn
I also love their payment descriptions - when I make a payment to another account its described on line as 'Immediate TB'. Luckily I have had my BCG vaccination!0 -
I saw they do TBs. Not figured out yet what it stands for - anyone?0

The closest I can find that TB stands for is Telephone Banking. :undecidedYou will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

Terrible Bank?
Terrific Bank?
No idea.0 -
They were one of the last adopters of internet banking, but had telephone banking long before that, so it could be Telephone Banking.
However, if I was guessing (and bearing in mind they like to live in the past), I'd go for "Transfer (by) BACS".
But then again, TB is preceded by the word "immediate" on the statement...and BACS was never immediate!0
