  • Could some kind sole help out with a few basic questions regarding paper work for Yorkshire bank CA application

On the switch agreement form it asks for 'switch date' what should I put, I have been given my new account number and sort code so I assume the account is ready for the switch? Obviously I would like it to happen asap.

Secondly, on the switch service form 'personal' it asks 'requested by' and gives you 4 options, I think I should just put 'private banking' does that sound OK? (what's meant by 'direct banking'.

Thirdly, one of the forms asks for 'balance transfer funding limit 'if agreed'. Is this just the amount in my old account that will be moved over?

Hope someone who has got through this test of attrition can help thanks.
P.S. I would try and sort this out on the phone but due to my work this is not possible over the next few days and I feel these forms need to go back quickly.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I've not had the switch go through yet but my account is open and they didn't send anything back so I guess all is on track... I put:

    - 'asap' for switch date
    - direct banking (a guess)
    - funding limit blank because as far as I knew I hadn't agreed anything

Can someone clarify, why would the readycash account be acceptable alongside the Direct account for the 2 x £150 incentive. Would any of the other accounts not be okay as well ?

Any of the current accounts qualify for the incentive - although I've been told that you will 'categorically not receive more than 1 incentive for switching, be it with Clydesdale or Yorkshire' - that came apparently from the people who will be manually crediting the incentives. Technically, the terms don't rule out receiving more than one incentive with the same brand (i.e. Yorkshire or Clydesdale) let alone across the different brands as they don't say you can only benefit from the offer once. They're not the clearest set of terms and have recently been redrafted to allow existing customers who had an account with more than £1k per month going through it to qualify if they open a new account and switch to that. The terms are now defined in terms of accounts rather than customers.

I can't see any such (redrafted*) 'loophole' for those of us currently using them for 4% AER, ie crediting more than £1K per month.

    Could you elaborate?

    * Condition 1.(b)(ii) has always been missing I believe?

This is the latest set http://www.cbonline.co.uk/resources/0956a153-3298-45a4-93e9-2d502d2bd3a4/CB-current-account-switch-offer-CB0816.pdf

Condition 1(b) has been removed completely and replaced with a condition 3 which opens the offer up to existing customers who open a new account.

The old version is still on the Yorkshire Bank website http://www.ybonline.co.uk/resources/1a4fedbe-4b63-4285-ad15-07d5e291130f/YB-current-account-switch-offer-YB0816.pdf but the text on the webpage now matches the text on the Clydesdale webpage so I assume the PDF will be replaced with the new one in due course.

If you opened by phone I assume it is Direct Banking as that is where you return the paperwork to.

It would be interesting to know the difference between a Personal and Private current account though...

You're a star! I'd only been checking YB, so thanks for that. :)

I have corrected this for you:
    Wasn't necessary Archi. :)

The statement, as written, was correct. The key wording (in answer to my specific query for those like yourself and I enjoying 4% AER), was at the end of the sentence..."if they open a new account and switch to that", ie condition 3(a)

    Maybe re-thank the poster? ;)

Have deleted my post to not cause further confusion.
