What phone number do you call to open an account?

Their website keeps directing me to a call back service, which then texts me to say I have to open an account in the branch.

14 days after I applied and I finally have the application pack.

I feel sorry for all the trees sacrificed for this application.

When you compare account opening with the likes of Lloyds and co. where accounts can be opened online instantly with the stacks of paper needed to open a Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank account it does seem ridiculous.

I sent paper work at weekend. I called them on Monday as I had the sort code and account number...to register for Internet banking. I was told leave it about 5 days. So I will call them on Friday.

Will keep this thread updated...

I think I sent my signed paperwork and switching forms back last Thursday and I am still waiting to hear back.

Even more strange when they allow you to apply for loans and credit cards online, but not current accounts. Get with 2014!

Got three letters today.

• Welcome Pack with an invitation to register for phone and internet banking
• Confirmation of Switch starting
• Debit card

I phoned to register for phone and internet banking; they will send another letter with internet banking details.

Still waiting for debit card PIN.

Got my account opening confirmation today. No other paperwork. Rang and registered for phone and internet banking. No switching confirmation yet. Spoken with Direct banking and they had no details of switching on their system. They said account just been opened yesterday so await afew more days. Hope they haven't lost my switching paperwork.
