I recently opened a current-direct account with Clydesdale did the switch and am waiting on my £150 to come through. Enquired with then yesterday if I could open a another different current account and do another switch. Was advised that this is not possible. Are they right ?
  • Could some kind sole help out with a few basic questions regarding paper work for Yorkshire bank CA application

On the switch agreement form it asks for 'switch date' what should I put, I have been given my new account number and sort code so I assume the account is ready for the switch? Obviously I would like it to happen asap.

Secondly, on the switch service form 'personal' it asks 'requested by' and gives you 4 options, I think I should just put 'private banking' does that sound OK? (what's meant by 'direct banking'.

Thirdly, one of the forms asks for 'balance transfer funding limit 'if agreed'. Is this just the amount in my old account that will be moved over?

Hope someone who has got through this test of attrition can help thanks.
P.S. I would try and sort this out on the phone but due to my work this is not possible over the next few days and I feel these forms need to go back quickly.

Come on you lot surely some one can tell me the best way to answer these questions ??? what did you put.
    PLEASE
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

    Just put

ASAP - or a date in a weeks time (although they are so slow maybe you should put March?!)
    Direct - assuming its postal
    None/NA

Sorry - I think we are just all so exhausted from the postal opening process. Branches are best for these two.

That sounds more like they're asking if you'd like them to consider offering you a comparable overdraft limit.

Time to join this party - 32 minutes on the phone and I've been accepted for a Current Account Direct with CB with the switch details from M&S handed over too.

Sounds like the real fun doesn't begin until all the guff lands in the post though...

Actually for me, 'the real fun' began well before the 'all the guff lands' :(

I applied by phone for YB Current Account Direct on 26th November and was told immediately that application was successful and that I was 'pre approved for any of their current and savings accounts'.

Call handler struggled a bit because my house has a name, rather than a number  but said pack would be posted. House name has never been an issue with any of the other accounts I've opened recently, either online, by phone, or in branch.

Nothing received by 4th December, so I phoned. Spoke to at least 3 call handlers and was eventually told a system glitch had prevented application being completed but that a pack would be posted immediately, with guaranteed next day delivery.

Nothing received by 6th December so I phoned again. Was told pack was printed 5 December so should arrive on 8th. Call handler said he would phone on Monday to make sure it has arrived.

Everyone I've spoken to has been very polite and pleasant, but I'm not impressed so far. We'll see what, if anything, tomorrow brings.

On hindsight, there was a reasonable (but always polite) attempt at the hard sell - did I want to hear about their mortgages, credit cards and so on, would I be happy to receive offers by post, phone etc. I guess they have to try and fund all these £150s somehow.
  • People appear to have so many differing experiences with this offer, I applied by phone at the start of the week got through very quickly and the whole process took about twelve minutes and no hard sell at all and no awkward questions, very pleasant all round and I received all documents in two days, not bad.
Just hope the rest of the proceedings go as well.

  • Hi all

Slightly off-topic apologies, though it would be quicker to ask here.

If I apply for the Readycash account over the phone without wanting to transfer an old account for the incentive, would I still need to sign and return paperwork, or will the account be confirmed during the call and the card and pin sent out?

They say that; the terms don't rule it out... so it's anyone's guess.

I'm very sceptical that in practice they will credit the incentive to more than one account but...
