For YB the default for receiving the code was POST, no option to change it even though mobile & 'contact' options were set for phone & mobile number supplied.

I wonder what happens if this on-line access code by snail mail takes so long there isn't time to set up the next transfer in of £1000?
I would have thought you can do that with the sort code and account number. You don't need access to your account through YB online to set up a transfer from another bank.

I'm with YB and I deffo got my code by text. But I can't tell you how :-(

Seems like the switch offer is back on then - but only for branch applications presumably. There is nothing at all on their website - perhaps they want to keep it low key this time!

Quite right mozzy10 & I should have made my 'whinge' clearer. I can move the £1000 IN, but it is 'bounced' money & I need to move it straight away to meet paying in criteria with several other accounts. If push comes to shove I'll stick the D/C in an ATM over 2 days & take it back in cash! Ordinarily I'd set up SO's but from the sound of an earlier post (#1710), even that is going to require a further 'token' of some sort to raise the limit from a pre-set £300.

The default after the obligatory 'telephone banking' registration was POST for the code. Even with contact allowed via mobile & logging my number, it was still POST. Even I was surprised by this as many on here had already said they got their code via text.

PS YB have just confirmed that once on-line is active I can't set up a SO for more than £300 without requesting a 'token' to increase the limit (max £1000), which takes a further 7-10 days & cannot request it yet. Though I can move up to £5000 by phone, it all seems a bit unsophisticated!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I had the same issue for registering for online banking - only option was post. Also I can't get the app to work for love nor money

The SO limit is stupid and is a pain that I will have to sort out as well.

After crediting a new account within 31 days of the switch date with £1,000 do YB then confirm the incentive condition has been met or is it a case of waiting 33 days or so to find out?

So if you stuff up for any reason you find out the hard way and because its over 31 days its too late to do anything about it?

Is there a daily money limit to make faster payments out of a YB current account or could I make several say £300 transfers out in one day without setting up a 'token' on the account that I've read about in this thread? Reminds me of Alliance and Leicester circa 2008!;)

Is there a dedicated or workaround 0800 number for YB Telephone Banking? I've only seen an 0845 number.

    Thanks.

I used 0141 951 7315 this morning, spoke to a knowledgeable, helpful young lady. Free for me because I don't pay for daytime calls to most number.

Previously I used the 0800 028 632 & spoke to an airhead (sorry).

The daily limit appears to be £1000. You can make multiple payments up to this amount but not a single one for the full amount without using verification.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • This is correct ....however.....

Spoke to an 'advisor' (!!!) who told me about these limits. Explained that wanted to transfer £1000 all to the same account.

SPECIFICALLY asked her whether making four payments (3 X £300 and 1 X £100) one after the other to the same account might trigger a security alert ...... no she said ....will be fine

I'll leave you to guess...... so another lengthy phone call to get payment released......
