Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

  • Update on my switch to Clydesdale:

Switch went flawlessly, the balance from my old account was transferred over by 6am on the switch date & my old account was closed the following day.

Took about a week to receive my debit card & pin after my branch appointment (they both came on the same day), but the online banking set-up was a long, drawn out process. My activation code took 9 working days to arrive but I am now set up.

I was a bit annoyed when trying to set up a standing order, as I need a token in order to lift the £300 limit. I requested this and was advised it would be sent by post. So I need to wait up to 10 working days for this to arrive.

The only major issue I've had is that I can't seem to register for the mobile banking app. I tried using my debit card details etc (before my online banking was set up) and it failed. I then tried when my online banking was set up, and it failed again. Has anyone else had this issue? I'll leave it for a day or so and try again.

Now, to wait for the incentive bonus.

No sign yet I see of the switch incentive offer being reopened today – as was rumoured.

Perhaps they have all the current account customers they now want/need?!

There is still a sign offering the £150 in my local branch window.

From memory my token was delivered next day...I was quite surprised considering everything else is done at a snails pace...

After waiting 11 days for my Internet banking code to arrive in the post, it hadn't so I phoned YB and was told there has been a problem with many customers so.........I had to go through the registration process again and my code SHOULD be with me in 3 to 5 business days so next Monday if 5 days.

A total of 18 days waiting AND they will not send the code as a text:mad:

Account open, no Internet access! :( and apparently only going ahead now? because I phoned to query non arrival of code.

I got my activation code in 10 mins so not sure why they are not txting and sending them by post?

Why won't they send the activation code by text? I had no issue doing this.

For your sake, make sure you are 100% with any passwords you enter for banking, otherwise you may face requesting another code if you forget them. :rotfl:

I got my code by text.
Does it make any difference that I applied in branch?

For YB the default for receiving the code was POST, no option to change it even though mobile & 'contact' options were set for phone & mobile number supplied.

I wonder what happens if this on-line access code by snail mail takes so long there isn't time to set up the next transfer in of £1000?
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
