Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

If you care about your "credit rating" then don't switch.
If, like me, you couldn't care less then Whoop!!! gimmie free money!!Clearly if you are about to apply for a £500k mortgage in the next couple of months I would be wary about opening lots of accounts – but for most people that isn’t the case.
In reality under MMR they are far more interested in your track record of paying debts/credit card bills and your general credit worthiness and ability to repay when awarding you a mortgage rather than some imaginary credit score. And if you have a current account with your (future) mortgage provider they may even look on you more fondly. Its credit and debt they will be concerned about – not current accounts with positive balances on them.
Well my fixed term mortgage ends in November and is about £40k so I think I will go for it! If they redo the offer... if not then it will be Co-Op then M&S0 -
After opening a direct account and signing the switch mandate on Friday, have now set up tele banking and received activation code by text. Internet banking now set up today and deposited 3k but switch is not until 11 Mar. Have I fully complied with T&C's or do I still need to deposit 1k after the switch date.0

Yes you do...0

I asked a similar question earlier on in the thread and was told its credit at least a £1000 after the switch is complete.0

To qualify for the £150 the switch date selected must be within 21 days of the date you signed the mandate.
Addendum on 3 March in view of subsequent posts: the above post was made to be relevant to the post I quoted. It doesn't however contain ALL the T&C of the offer, for which anyone concerned is advised to read the T&C provided by the Banks concerned.
The reason why I asked is because I returned all forms to them and they didn't include any copies for myself. I stupidly didn't take a note of the account number and sort code as thought I'd receive the debit card and it would be on that. I thought I would have the debit card by now or at least a letter to acknowledge that the account was finally open. I had the switch date as the 6th but again no acknowledgement of this. They should have received the completed application forms around 2 weeks ago.
Looks like I'm going to have to call them up and ask what's happening regarding both the opening of the account and the switch and also ask for my account number and sort code.
I guess it was my mistake to assume they'd be like other banks.0 -
My experience has been fine so far.
The internet banking has a slightly confusing internal transfers / funds transfer and bill payment setup.
The Android app is a breeze IMHO - simple and effective.
Being able to use the Post Office network almost like a branch is very convenient.i am with you entirely Gers.. it's dire. along with their customer service. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yes you should phone them and check status, the only way I knew my application was being processed was they phoned me the day after I sent the paperwork back because I forgot proof of income for the overdraft facility. Also banks that you are switching from MAY contact you to tell you you are switching away from them and is that correct?
While you are on the phone say you want to be registered for telephone and Internet banking and they will transfer you to that dept. you need to choose a 4 digit PIN and they will send you a 10 digit Activation Code which again takes time, haven't got mine yet and I phoned last Friday. Assuming you want Internet banking.
It all takes time, they must be very busy, all the service staff I have talked to have been friendly and helpful, I will let the dust settle before I judge them as a bank but actually they are growing on me and I think they will get their act together slowly!
They aren't slick and they aren't at the forefront of IT more old fashioned, I'm just assuming everything is going to plan and hope it is!0 -
I still haven't had my £150 despite the switch going through before Christmas. I called them today and the lady agreed that I should have had it and promised someone would call me back. I said to her that I don't mind about the callback as long as the money is put in as per their promise!0

Received my debit card and letter notification of account being switched and new YB account details which is open now, all prior to Switch day middle of next week.
Mentioning this because some complaints here about not being kept informed and not receiving debit cards in time but my experience has been good.0 -

Got a/c details fairly quickly, d/c arrived & following day the pin came. Just a bit miffed that I couldn't register for on-line banking without first registering for telephone banking then waiting for a 10 digit authorisation/activation (?) code - without being given the option of having it sent by text (like others on here), postal choice ONLY!
Chose 3 March as switch date but rec'd letter saying switch completion would be 6 March - though balance is still in Nationwide today, maybe later or after midnight it will move.
At THAT point I'll be cross if the 10 digit code hasn't arrived because the only way to check &/or access my money will be by sticking the debit card in an ATM & drawing cash up to the daily limit! Glad this isn't my day to day living bank a/c so can be patient without proper access to my money.
PS I should add, a minor irritation for £150 - mustn't forget that bit!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0
