Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

How about using some of the free money to pay for a flight to Northern Ireland?
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts#mands (scroll down a bit....)
"You can also earn £125 by fully switching current accounts to First Trust Bank's Plus Current Account. But the account can only be opened in First Trust branches, and these are all located in Northern Ireland."
Several NI residents have commented on how hard it is to open an account with them - its like applying for a mortgage with most banks but even harder work. They wanted two forms of photo ID on a branch visit, 3 months statements for the switching account and proof you were paying in your salary.
If you do manage to open an account and switch you do however get entered into a prize draw to win a weekend away at Ulster's premier spa hotel. And if you make it as far as opening an account - you will probably need a spa break to recover from the process.:D0 -
OMG! Ok don't think I'll bother then! ;-)0

Assuming YB/Clydesdale DO come back with the offer.....
I got a bit of a grilling when opening my last Clydesdale
OH only has one Clydesdale so could probably get another easier than me..... and we could probably get by the grilling more easily if we open a joint account.
I have a donor account spare which I could easily make joint..... does any one know whether Clydesdale will accept the 'secondary' account holder on the donor account as the 'primary' account holder on the Clydesdale account? ....i.e I openend the account and make it joint with OH but SHE opens the Clydesdale and switches in.....0 -

All the above is possible - but we won't know until the new terms are issued.
They could start requiring direct debits or say anyone who has received a £150 incentive since 1 November 2014 isn't eligible - or keep the old terms but make it tougher for multiple applications.
We won't know until the new terms come out - assuming this 9 March rumour is true and thats only based on someone's post on hotukdeals.
Sorry - I can't be more help - but it will depend on the offer and if you/your OH's existing accounts rule you out. They were also stopping YB customers opening CB accounts last week (and vice versa) if they didn't have any already (presumably as its more work for them in terms of internet banking/passwords etc).0 -
I know we wont know for sure until they do come out, but as I've said before, I have been told by (at least) three advisers .... some from the contact centre and some from the switching team direct ....that the offer will be extended - and I asked the specific question 'will it be on EXACTLY the same Ts and Cs' and was told yes in every case.
They all quoted the (odd?) date of March 28th as well for it to finish (I know the original offer was to 28th Feb but presumably 'cos its a 28 day Month.....) Why not 'end March'?
We can but hope.....0 -

Yes - but the offer hasn't been simply extended it has been closed and may reopen in a week (or may not). That to me suggests a potential change of terms.
So maybe there was a change of policy at senior levels - hence last week people with multiple accounts getting turned down before even starting the application who weeks ago might have been accepted.
You could get multiple incentives under the old terms - so yes is the answer on the old terms either for switching a joint or sole account in your or your OH's name (whoever was primary) if they let you open more accounts. But the new terms may differ - and may be more restrictive.
And to be honest if I was their fraud/money laundering department I would be slightly horrified that my bank was allowing people to open 10 or 20 current accounts within a few weeks. What was a great sales incentive could turn into a potential headache.0 -
Has anyone had their accounts suspended? And if so can they claim back the incentives after they've been paid? Really strange I phoned them and they said I had to be referred to branch and can't continue further.0

A bank can close an account at any time e.g. if they have concerns about how you are operating or funding the account. Sometimes with your first account (is it?) you might have to go to a branch to provide ID - maybe what was the issue why you were referred to branch?
PS I see YB/CB are now offering 20 months interest free on purchases for their credit card - a market leader. Clearly they are keen to hoover up lots of new customers.
