The only branch CB/YB have south of Northampton in England is the Piccadilly branch.

So the YB in Gloucester (and the ones in Coventry, Leamington and Banbury) is only there in my imagination?

I think your statement is incorrect.

    Ever heard the term pedantic.

Perhaps you can suggest to the poster based in London that if they can't fit them in for at appointment at the Piccadilly branch they can always drive over 100 miles to Gloucester and back (200 miles round trip) - spending 5 hours doing so while fitting this in around their busy job.

Northampton is the closest branch to London according to the YB website - Banbury is slightly further in mileage terms and Coventry and Leamington are further north. But hey - if you think Gloucester or Coventry are convenient alternative branches for a Londoner that's fine too!:D If they fancy a day trip to Cumbria they can even find a Clydesdale branch.

You said (in post #1563) that 'The only branch CB/YB have south of Northampton in England is the Piccadilly branch'.

Zanderman responded that there were branches in Gloucester, Coventry, Leamington and Banbury. I have not verified that there are YB or CB branches in those towns but Gloucester and Banbury are indeed south of Northampton. Their distance from London doesn't change their geographic position. There is nothing pedantic about knowing your geography.

I wasn't being pedantic - I was correcting your inaccuracy.

You stated, in a thread about YB/CB banks, that there were none in England south of Northampton apart from London.

That may be the case for the Clydesdale, but it is very inaccurate for the Yorkshire. Indeed it is very unhelpful, bearing in mind the thread has been suggesting branch visits (if you can get an appointment) are the most painless way to open and switch an account.

Branches in the south may be scarce, but there ARE several, and it is would be helpful to point out where they are to aid would-be switchers, not state they don't exist (and imply they are SO rare there's only a London one south of Northampton - which could put people off all over central/southern England, even those north of Northampton)!

YB have a branch finder on their website here: http://www.ybonline.co.uk/personal/online-locator/

For the record, and for those seeking branch appointments, here's a partial list of Yorkshire branches for the midland/southern parts of England:

Banbury, Northampton, London Piccadilly, Gloucester, Leamington Spa, Wellingborough, Coventry, Dudley, Banbury, Cannock, Tamworth, Stafford, Crewe, Peterborough, Kettering, Grantham, Leicester, Newark, Chesterfield, Woodseats, Alfreton, etc

There are lots more in northern England of course.

(But maybe none in Wales... but don't take my word for it, try the branch finder)

£150 switch incentive ad removed from YB website.

Although T&Cs link still live (PDF document).

Perhaps updating/extending the terms? Or permanent removal of offer?

    Time will tell....

  • I got a call back this morning saying they wouldn't open me another account as I already had one if I was after the switching incentive...

So not sure how you lot managed to get several without them checking you already had one...

Also, YB don't communicate at all, there online customer services said that this offer was extended till the end of march, yet my local YB who rang me this morning said it would stop tomorrow and another "harsher" offer would be brought on shortly with likely enforced DDs and salary in..

But I still don't get how you get the multiple switch bonus if they already know u have opened one previously (as they did check in my case)
  • I spoke to an advisor today who said there was no news as yet about whether the current offer will be extended. The only certainty is there's uncertainty about this.

As my promised paperwork to sign etc hadn't arrived today I was concerned about signing by the 28th but I was told the account is technically open from the date of my phone application a week ago so I am within the qualifying period and incentive award as long as I return the paperwork signed even if after the 28th. Hope that's right!
  • Youre right about the uncertainty but I've now been told POSITIVELY by three advisers that it is being extended - last one was last night when I was enquiring about the stautus of my switches.

Think there will be a bit of a fuss if they do pull it, but -havent checked -but I'm pretty sure it will say they can pull it without notice.
