I have just been informed over the phone by a very knowledgeable Clydesdale CS agent that this incentive has been extended to 28th March due to the extremely positive take up of this offer, (wonder why), and agents working full out all day plus overtime to keep up with demand, although nothing showing on the websites yet.

I also asked,(no names no pack drill), if it was possible for some one to have opened 23 accounts, and he said yes as long as the reasons given satisfied them, he said it may have got under the radar, and reasons for referring people where not given to them, but was generally random, especially if opening several accs in a short time due to money laundering and ID theft.

I have just checked my YB acc, my latest switch has just happened, but where the previous ones have said "switched", this one says "transfer TRANSFER", should I be concerned? They have transferred the small amount that was in the switched account.

If they've extended the offer, I might actually open more accounts haha!

My switch came up as transfer rather than switch, still got paid my incentive.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Any update on the latest news about National Australia Bank’s plans to sell off the Clydesdale and Yorkshire? Presumably all these new account openings will feature in their interim results which have a 31 March cut off date!
  • I think that for all those who applied multiple times (hopping to get more than one incentive) it will not be the case since:

Offer is available on existing accounts which have been credited with less than an average of £1000 per month over the six month period prior to 17th November 2014, or since you opened that account if that is a shorter period of time.
So the 1st account will count for the 150 but any consecutive will not since you would have paid already 1000£ to get the previous!

thanks for the reply! So you open multiple accounts at one time, then use these for switching between YB/CB and/or others?

    Yes

There are at least 189 different current accounts available in the UK – or 177 excluding YB/CBs variants - according to another website of which Sharon Osborne is apparently a fan!

So in theory you could do 177 switches – or more. Some are easier to open than others of course – and some are choosier than others – but there are loads of potential switching in accounts.

You would be right if what you quoted was the full and only eligibility clause. As it isn't, you are not right.

Given people have already received more than one payout that isn't actually the correct interpretation.

The wording only applies to any current account you had with them prior to 17 November - not a new account (or several of them) opened after that date.

    "3. Offer only available when:
    (a) you open a new Personal or Private current account; or
    (b) you switch to an existing Personal or Private current account which has been credited with less than
an average of £1000 per month over the six month period prior to 17th November 2014, or since you
opened that account if that is a shorter period of time."

Well First Trust have just brought me down to earth with a bump! They can't satisfactorily ID me electronically (first time ever!), meaning I'd have to go into branch, so that one's out!

You and everyone else, I think. Two down for me so far. Either they won't take on non-NI residents (in which case they could help by saying so), or their systems are stuck in the dark ages and they don't use modern means of identifying people. My money is on the latter, so I will keep on trying.
  • I just want to say a big thank you to those regular posters whose advice has helped me with this switching offer.
