Argos click and collect - working for you?

As a buyer it works for me, I often pass an Argos shop in the car and it is better than waiting in for a delivery of large item.
Have used it three times, twice took 3 days and last time 2 days.
So will definitely look for sellers using it but only for items too big for the letter box.0 -
As a potential buyer (of an unlocked new Big Button Doro mobile, they retail around £70 and he's selling them for £39.95 ) do I pay BEFORE I click and collect eg by Paypal, or on collection ?
If the latter I wouldn't have the Ebay buyer protection if it was a fake or anything would I ?
Not sure how to tell if a mobile is genuine. Seller says it's new etc but no box ? If he's offering free postage or click and collect which is best for safety? Says he has 10 more.
You pay as normal through eBay and PayPal.
The only difference is instead of posting it to you, the seller posts to Argos, and you collect.0 -

I think looking at some of the replies on this thread, Ebay have poorly implemented this Argos Click And Collect and need to educate buyers more on how it works. There ought to be some kind of punishment for buyers who don't collect (which seems to be coming more prevalent) too as it is wasting peoples time and costing money.0

I'm not sure about penalising buyers who don't collect, but I completely agree about educating buyers - and sellers! I've never seen a system so poorly explained and so badly understood.
To me is seemed a simple idea, buyers pay and can opt to have it delivered either to an address in their PayPal account or to their local Argos. Yet both here on various threads and on the community boards we have buyers who seem to have missed the point. We've got buyers thinking it is Argos and so they can go down same day and just collect their stuff from stock, there are other buyers (and some sellers more worryingly) that think they have to pre delver all their stock to various Argos shops and then use the Argos system for random passers by .
Others seem to think it is dearer as they have to pay extra to get Argos involved.
Some of the best questions I've seen are:
A) how do I know what stock to deliver to what Argos store , surely EBay don't expect me to have enough stock to cover every shop
How do I sell my items in Argos if it isn't in their catalogue
C) How does the seller know which Argos I want to collect from, will it just go to the sellers local one
D) Why are Argos allowed to masquerade as many different small business sellers on eBay and sell items that I can't buy from their inshore catalogue, surely this is fraud.
I think a bit of education would be a great helpI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh and from a sellers point of view there is one big advantage , according to the community boards , if a buyer fails to collect (and even untracked items are recorded once they reach Argos) then buyer can't open an INR until the item is on its way back to the seller- allegedly.
It was useful to me that my 2nd class items all registered as received by Argos, which is not something that I would normally have of course as I don't use tracking. So when I had the dreaded 'where is my item' email, I could tell them

I am amazed to hear all that: I 'got' it immediately and have always collected soon after being notified. I am really sorry that some sellers are having problems: I hope it doesn't make them decide not to provide this service.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Over Xmas I opted for click and collect on various ebay items. 1 got lost but the friendly ebay customer service guy located it for me and I collected at Argos with no problem. You need ID to collect like a driving licence. That may be problematic for some folk. I like click and collect because I do not have to be at home, and my postie folds everything through the letter box!Remember when you judge someone, it does not define them ... You define yourself :j0
