Argos click and collect - working for you?

I opted out but wondering whether I should opt in - can't imagine many people using it but I did notice a pile of random parcels in Argos yesterday behind the counter.
If I opt in do I get better visibility?

I've only had 2 orders so it certainly isn't a big deal breaker for buyers.

  • I haven't had any Click & Collect orders yet and like you, I'm don't imagine many people will use it. But as offering Click & Collect will allegedly increase visibility I'm happy to go with it.

I've had two C&C orders - for items that will easily fit through a letter box at home. I have no idea why the buyers chose the pick up option rather than let it drop conveniently through their doors at home

  • I collected 4 big books from an Argos of my choice, and was delighted that this option was available. It seems that the seller does not offer this service any more, which is disappointing.

The reason I prefer C & C for larger items as it saves me from staying in just in case and being on edge because doorbells might ring!

My postie doesn't like putting things through the letterbox when they're on the large size, but would easily go through. He's always knocking on the door.

Also stuff that is too big, but not recorded, he won't leave, it's a real pain. He can arrive anytime from 11.00am to 2.00pm and you can guarantee that he comes when I have popped out for two minutes.

Same with couriers, used to arrive in the morning and pick up next day's round on the afternoon, now it's anytime up to eight in the evening.

I haven't used C&C yet, but it is something I can see myself using more and more in the future.

Agreed. I had the choice yesterday and needed an item fairly quickly. Surely going via Argos is slower and more inconvenient, so I chose free post. ;)

My items though really do fit through a standard letter box - I use normal white envelopes that have the item wrapped in a bit of bubble wrap, so the C&C option is still confusing to me :)

Strangely enough I've now had 4 orders via c and c, all of which are very small letter size packets and all of which would go through a letter box easily. However, it might be the case that they have problems with post at their address, one of my sons has real issues with items being taken from a communal area where his locked post box is regularly broken into.

It makes no difference to cost at all- C and C can only be free post. However, although ebay do not say so, I do worry that c and c might add a short delay onto the delivery time as we are reliant on Argos scanning it as soon as it arrives

We've just bought a chair from an Ebay seller which we had delivered to Argos.

My DH works very near to the Argos store and as we didn't want to have a day off for delivery and it's not something we'd want to inflict on our neighbours (large heavy box!), it worked well for us, I'd definitely use the service again.

I wouldn't bother for something that fits through a letterbox though!

  • I can understand how this service would be useful to people out at work but I wonder how many know about it.

I've sent many many items to peoples workplace over the years so many get around the problem that way.

All the items I;ve seen so far offering C&C also offer free 2nd class postage so for me that option is better but if I had to pay the postage I may well choose C&C.

As a seller it was of only marginal interest as most of my stuff goes overseas. I did read up about it but didn't see much advantage. The cost to seller seems to be the same as sending direct to the customer but maybe I should think again. If there's one buyer who would go for it then that's one extra sale.
