I've bought using Argos click and collect a few times and it's brilliant for me. I'm out at work during the day and it is far more convenient for me to collect from the retail park Argos that I have to pass on the drive to / from work. I will definitely favour a seller that offers this service.
  • I have just ordered something else C & C and it will soon be a deal breaker for me. I love the feeling of being in control.

I've only had 2 orders so it certainly isn't a big deal breaker for buyers.

It is a very big deal breaker for me! I love being able to collect when convenient and have just ordered a large number of items.

I would be interested to know whether it is cheaper, easier, more or less convenient for the sellers.

It makes no difference at all to the seller. We just get the address in PayPal as the Argos one rather than the home address.

I have opted into Click and Collect now, seems popular with buyers, I guess anyone working in the centre of town would find it useful and at least it rules out fake INR's!!

Just a thought, as we at MSE know, on line ordering has its advantages under the Consumer contract regs.eg able to cancell order etc.

These regs cover us as we are unable to examine the goods as we would be able to in a shop.
If one uses click and collect could it be argued that when we collect we have the opportunity to examine the goods so therefore loose the rights under the CCRegs.

It's kind of a moot point, in that Argos know their customers generally don't opt to see the goods before purchase, and so voluntarily provide a 30 day money back guarantee. I'm not saying that your parcels are covered by that guarantee, I'm just saying Argos saw the business sense of allowing retruns for that reason.

Just a comment about two things raised in this thread.

For people who have bought C&C @ Argos, but the items are small things that could go through a front door. This could be buyers who haven't yet bought anything using this delivery method, and may have wanted to give it a go. I bought 1kg Cocoa Butter for that reason - I really hope that a certain youtube video on how to make your own milk chocolate works.

Whether or not C&C @ Argos will be a deal breaker. For large items that won't go through the front door, I would much prefer C&C. Waiting in for large items to be delivered (or having my partner do so) is a real pain, and has often not gone well. For packages coming from Amazon, I've been paying extra for Collect Plus in my local Co-op. Having collect available for no extra price is a big plus, and would certainly sway me between two similarly priced sellers.

I've had two C&C orders - for items that will easily fit through a letter box at home. I have no idea why the buyers chose the pick up option rather than let it drop conveniently through their doors at home

My unit is opposite the Argos store. It is helpful for me due to the ease of delivery, and the problem below:

We've just bought a chair from an Ebay seller which we had delivered to Argos.

My DH works very near to the Argos store and as we didn't want to have a day off for delivery and it's not something we'd want to inflict on our neighbours (large heavy box!), it worked well for us, I'd definitely use the service again.

I wouldn't bother for something that fits through a letterbox though!

I have a dog that eats all mail pushed through the box!

As a potential buyer (of an unlocked new Big Button Doro mobile, they retail around £70 and he's selling them for £39.95 ) do I pay BEFORE I click and collect eg by Paypal, or on collection ?
If the latter I wouldn't have the Ebay buyer protection if it was a fake or anything would I ?
Not sure how to tell if a mobile is genuine. Seller says it's new etc but no box ? If he's offering free postage or click and collect which is best for safety? Says he has 10 more.
