The problem with that is, it is often done on the QT and if it causes no disruption, then it is tolerated.
Then some selfish idiot goes and has a three piece suite delivered to reception and the MD walks past and starts asking questions about what is it.
Next thing is there is a memo from HR dept. informing all departmental managers, that under no circumstances are personal deliveries to be accepted at work.0 -

All the items I;ve seen so far offering C&C also offer free 2nd class postage so for me that option is better but if I had to pay the postage I may well choose C&C.
As a seller it was of only marginal interest as most of my stuff goes overseas. I did read up about it but didn't see much advantage. The cost to seller seems to be the same as sending direct to the customer but maybe I should think again. If there's one buyer who would go for it then that's one extra sale.
The costs for both buyer and seller are exactly the same. My items are sent 2nd class, whether to Argos or to the buyers home or work address. As for the buyer click and collect only works with free postage, and they pay no more or no less where they opt to have it sent.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So, as it stands when buyers choose to buy an item, if you have Click & Collect on the item it looks like this is the only option that is available to the customer. If someone does not live near an Argos, it will come up that no delivery location is available, thus making the customer think that you do not post with another service and they may choose not to buy.
I have now removed C&C from my listings although I did have one order.
PS. If you have to drive to Argos, postage is not 'free' as you have had to pay for petrol and wear & tear.0 -
My local Argos and delivery office are a 5 minute drive from home and a 2 minute walk between each other! I was expecting a largish package awhile back and had the choice of click and collect. Royal Mail was the better option this time round but Argos would generally be better as its open until 8.00pm weekday evenings, whereas the delivery office has only one late night opening - I'm not always organised enough to go before work!!0

I don't think that is the case.
Viewing my auctions as a guest I see them as being eligible for click and collect or free postage as normal, plus all my uplifted rates are showing so there is no difference from my usual offering plus there is an additional one being click and collect.
Buyers can't be limited to click and collect as it would mean that my sales would be dead, which they are certainly not.
I have also bought from several sellers offering click and collect, and again it offers the choice of Argos stores or normal delivery to my address. I was certainly not given the impression that it was either c and c or nothing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As a postman delivering to an Argos store, I will say it is getting more and more popular (Not with me though)I'm back after a break :money:0

At the moment my son and his wife use my address for parcels as there is usually someone in to take them. However, due to their imminent home move this might not be so convenient in future and they are already considering using click and collect as they will pass a bit Argos store on their way home from work , and that is open until very late.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm using this right now for the first time. Primarily because it wouldn't fit through the letter box.
My estimated collection date was today, although the company shipped Sat pm via RM 1st class. So it wouldn't have been collected until today. Hoping I get my notification tomorrow or Wednesday.
I incorporate collecting web orders with other errands in town so I do count it as free delivery/collection. Today I collected from Boots while getting my glasses adjusted there, and visiting the Library, Cex and M&S.
Wednesday hopefully when I collect from town centre Argos it will be on the way home from a Hospital appointment and I also need to visit Poundland, Cex and the bank all located in town centre.
Now that one is certainly free since I can claim full costs back for Hospital travel (day ticket), which is the one I would get even if I was going straight home.0 -
Case in point.
Mail turned up with postie today, I am upstairs on phone. I have to look at the window to see if I want to answer the door, no, if it is double glazing people 'working in the area' who can give me a fantastic price.
By the time I get downstairs and find the keys (not left in the door), he has now got bored and decided to stick the miniscule (non signed for) Aliexpress jiffy bag through the letter box.
The second item that he is hanging onto, is a cuddly toy (from TV) Meerkat, that wasn't expected, it wasn't ordered, it merely came with the energy switch.
It was also unsigned for and as light as a feather, could have easily gone over the side gate. Odds of 10-1 that if he couldn't leave it with our neighbour, it would have gone back to the depot.
This is why Argos collection appeals to me, don't have to worry about being in or whether they make it on Monday or come Tuesday, or the postie decides he doesn't want to leave a non signed for.
I'll collect it at a time that suits me, when I know it is definitely there.0 -
Collected mine finally on Friday, really impressed.
Collection point clearly marked, staffed, staff member clearly trained well and parcels located close to collection point (my pet hate with store collection is a pick up point far away from the parcel storage!).
Wasn't in there two minutes.0
