Why do people post competitions?

im awful for not posting thanks in IWIWIW, partly because family have asked me where i find my comps & i directed them to here and im currently saving my prizes for christmas.

and i dont post twitter comps as i quite often have chats with people on there so would rather avoid the 'you know the person' 'what are you getting out of it' etc. so id rather avoid that. i only enter comps from on here now anyway i dont tend to look elsewhere so rarely come across ones that havnt been posted.

I post competitions because I enter competitions from posts on here so I feel I am giving back. Plus the hassle of trying to work out if it is a scam or not has mostly been taken away. Some do go through but by using MSE a lot of them don't go through.

So what if another few hundred people enter and someone actually wins? Proves that the competitions I enter are real competitions and not scams.

I'm quite happy to post comps when I come across them as I won't enter even a fraction of what I do and win without the help of other people doing the same. As a hobby you can get as much enjoyment out of doing that as entering strange as it seams.

It's very nice when you get a PM from somebody thanking you for a comp you've found and they have won, even if I did want the prize myself. Can't be lucky all the time

I only really go here for comps so I rarely find any that aren't posted (but would post them if I did).

I do try and help with answers and clickable links if I see them though, and try and always thank the OP in IWIWIW.

I don't post many, but I like to give a little bit back. everyone helps out in their own way though, even if it's just clicking the Expired button when a comp ends.

Totally off tangent but i didnt wanna make a song and dance about it, or take up another thread, But over past couple of days ive say doing lots of " expired" and wondered if anyone has a few mins here and there they could maybe do the same, I believe it takes 3 different clicks for the board guide to move it ( apologies if incorrect) ive just done 12/11 . Just thought what with Advents coming up these boards are going to be swamped so the quicker we can get these expired comps off the main board the easier it will be for everyone and possibly not so daunting. I know there is a a BG that moves these but maybe this will help them as and when they are on too

We are asked not to post the number it may take.

We're not going to say the number as we don’t want to encourage its misuse. For the same reason can you also not mention it on the forum if you figure it out?

It makes little difference to the BGs who can move them by the 100 but this is the thread for posting about expired ones

I never find anything that isn't already listed here, that's why I use MSE - its supported by a real powerhouse core group.

I always gives thanks when I do use the site to enter, and click expired / add an answer if i spot its out of date or missing.

I only wish I had more free time to put into MSE/comping in general, its why I am mostly on twitter - I can enter via my mobile when I am on the go, and never grumble about anyone Rting anything I find.

I also use compers haven and twitaculous for entering contests, I wouldn't even know how to add comps to those sites as most of the stuff on twitter and facebook can end within hours anyway.

I have only posted a few comps, but that's only because the ones i come across somebody has already posted it, i'm obviously a bit slow :rotfl:
