Why do people post competitions?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they do! I'm just wondering why it's in anyone's interests to post about comps and their answers on here, and reduce their own chances of winning!?

there are some not nice people in the comping world, but they are in the minority0 -
Its probably because they're thinking about others too. I for one am glad i have the opportunity to enter all the comps i do,and without the posters of comps,i very much doubt i'd noticed 3/4's of the comps i actually enter!0

I don't normally enter rafflecopters but there were some on a site I visited that were not posted on here, I had to enter them to get to the question and answer so I could post it - had an email this afternoon and I have won one of them - wouldn't have entered/won if I hadn't been going to post it.0 -
i'm an absolute !!!!!! but i'll still help out with answers even if i dont want whats offered but it still gives someone else a chance
