I have tried to obtain my credit report but i can't as i dont have a credit card to register with. Is there any other way of obtaining my credit report? Thanks in advance

You can order them by post either with a cheque or with a postal order.
All 3 agencies offer this option on their website - its the £2 statutory postal report that you want.

  • Hi,

I am looking at taking up the Credit Expert 30-day trial. MSE guide says that if you sign up via Quidco you have to keep it running for 20 days before cancelling to get the cashback - this is confirmed on their website. However, I was going to subscribe via Topcashback, but their website does not mention keeping the trial for 20-days. Does anyone know whether this applies to Topcashback as well?

    Cheers,
    TE

I just had the same problem. I think I may have answered one of the 'security' questions wrong. But there's no way I'm going to call them on 5+p/minute, so hopefully they won't start spamming me with emails to call them.

    Anybody else have this issue?

    Thanks.

I always call them on 01274 759759 and even ask them to put me through to someone in the UK there always very helpful.

  • thnx 2 everyone. found out much useful info.
  • i was a member of experian for many years, i joined up for the free trial and then forgot to cancel it, but i figured it was only something like £7 a month, so to be honest i wasnt that bothered.
Then i went to get car finance and got rejected and couldnt understand why because although i had had credit in the past,( car on finance in past and 4 or 5 credit cards) id worked hard to pay it all off without missing payments and settling them all and cancelling them all.
I went on and looked at all the list of credits and amount of credit.
Then when i spotted a few things that didnt add up.
The first one was black horse finance. id had a car on hire purchase and when this became paid off, the company didnt inform credit reference companies that this was the case, infact they had made a bad error and had marked it as more than 8 payments behind (the car had been paid off one year) they had counted each month since the car was repaid in full as me not paying for it...
the next issue was i had had a adams clothing store card and a pilot card both issued by creation finance.
I had had my purse nicked and they had cancelled both card and issued me another one of each.
One of my cards had a £300 limit and the other one had £200.
I noticed their were 4 entries for these, and there were 4 accounts where their should have only been 2.
I rang creation finance and asked them to check the 4 seperate account numbers that i had copied down from the website and they had informed me that it looked like they had listed the card numbers instead of actual account numbers.

The solving of the black horse issue was easy, i phoned them up with my refernce number and explained the problem. the fella was at first relucanant to believe my claim at first, so i asked him if he was near a fax machine, i printed of the report from experian and faxed it to him whilst i was on the phone.
By the end of the month it was sorted and the credit reference companies were informed and the matter was solved and put to bed.
The other one took alittle longer to sort out.
I had explained the problem to creation finance and were dead blase about the whole matter 'oh yeah all it looks like it that someone has made an error and used your card numbers instead of account details, all YOU have to do is put it all in writing and someone will be in touch within 14 working days'!
in all it took one month and several letters and phone calls for them to realise their mistake, no apology, no letter to confirm it had been done, but in the end it did get sorted.
If it hadnt been for me forgetting to cancel experian i dread to think how long it would have lasted.
I mean the store cards had been paid off since 2002 and this was 2006, they werent even classed as settled, they still had the balance as maxed out!
mine is cancelled now on experian but im thinking of re-activiating it as recently ive been turned down for a catalogue and the more i think about it the more i start to panic incase something similar has happened or worse..

I received a credit report of 3/5 from Noddle which (according to this forum is a free service with no membership fees etc). Can anyone tell me if this is a good report or not. I only have one credit card (Capital One) (huge interest) and a small catalogue account (which is paid in full). I am trying to build my credit rating. I am really fed up because despite my bank (Nationwide) holding all my savings and my current account which is always in credit, they have refused me a credit card. Is this rating of 3/5 poor or should I re-apply to Nationwide (or change banks)?

Scores don't mean too much just manage your accounts and keep debt below 50% of your annual wage. Are you on the electoral roll as this is important.
  • Thank you for your advice. Yes I am on the electoral roll and am really careful not to get into unnecessary debt. I didn't realise that the credit scores were not important.:o

Get a Capital One card and you'll get 2 free credit reports per year and an Equifax account. For Experian take the free trial but remember to cancel before the end of the trial period.
  • Hi,
I had an Experian free trial last year and i want to check my credit score again. it wont let me sign up again fro the free trail. is there any way to get around this?
