I have the CPP thing with a Vanquis card, so I get a free Experian report, and I've pretty much got green circles all over, so that's good.

Tried with both Experian and Equifax and they're both telling me there's a problem/they're unable to process my request :-(

Anyone know what the problem could be? I've doubled checked all my card details were correct.

It's telling me to try by post but I really can't be bothered with that - especially if that'll only fail too!

Have you tried calling the help desk? They should be able to tell you what the issue is and how you can get around it.

Not tried yet but will do; thanks.
  • I took advantage of a free credit check a few years ago. This year I tried to do it again and as my details were still on their database I had to pay and couldnt access a free check. After they took 3 months payments over the 3 months i got fed up and I called to cancel today as I could see how to do it online. The woman was nice enough but kept saying your file is coming up, we are processing the cancellation etc she told me she was in the Philippines and eventually 15mins later it was cancelled. 15mins for someone to cancel something..while few questions were asked apart from the weather etc it cannot be right can it? Am I being cynical but 15mins of call charges on an 0845 number is better than 5 isn't it? I'm not impressed..but the woman was nice.

I've been refused a next directory credit account. I can see no reason whatsoever why I should have a bad credit score. I've lived at this address for 15+ years, own my home without a mortgage, have no debts whatsoever, own a credit card and pay it off completely every month and put money into a saving account every month. I am not prepared to enter my credit card details into a website where I need to cancel after a month. Is there any other way I can find out my credit score, which is obviously incorrect.

How can I get my credit score without using my credit card.

You don't need your credit score, that is the score that one of the credit reference agencies will sell to you, it won't help you try to understand why you have been refused credit.

What you need is to get a copy of your credit file from 1, 2 or all 3 of the credit reference agencies - as that it what next will have seen when making a decision whether to offer you a credit account. You can do this online or by post for a one off fee of £2 per agency. If by post then you can pay by cheque or postal order if you do not want them to have your credit card details.
