i have ordered all three free credit reports and spent ages on each credit agency's website trying to find out how to cancel the free trials. i eventually found this guide which has contact details for all three:
whichcreditreport.co.uk/cancel-credit-report.html
hope this helps!0 -
I hate it how though that most companys are charging you after 10 day period and they drag it out so you end up paying, i dont think its right. Afterall they do advertise it as free in the first place0

Hi I am new and not sure where to post so forgive me for hijackingthis one. My ex partner has had an argos card(not the credit card) for years and has always paid it off on time. He has had bank loans and has always paid them off on time or early. Has never been refused credit for anything.and has never missed a payment ever!. He has just moved into his own home and is and always has been in full time employment with a good wage. He went to use his argos card only to find that it had expired. so rang them to order a new one only to be told he doesnt meet the criteria?. they refused to tell him why over the phone and said they would write a letter detailing why he was turned down. His credit score should be high. as i said he has recently had a bank loan for 5000 pound so credit check was done then and was fine. credit check was done when he moved into his house as it is rented so that was fine. i do not understand how he was turned down for a card that he had anyway but had just expired and that he had a fantastic payment record with? can anyone shed any light on this many thanks kind regards.0

Hey everyone. My mortgage fixed rate ends in June next year and although a bit up in the air about what we will do depending on svr have decided to have a look at our credit reports to make sure all in order and try and sort any issues out in advance! Good job I did because found out hubby had 5 missed payments for an 02 account which was caused by a closing balance we did not even know about! Thankfully I have spoken to them and paid the £3 balance and they r going to remove from file!
Anyway my question is me and hubby bought a brand new car in march this year and got this on joint finance for 20k on the reports it states that my and hubbys outstanding debts both include this figure which is fine but was wondering whether mortgage companies when doing checks will be able to establish that the 20k is for both of us and not each (I.e. 40k of debt which won't look to good).0 -
I joined Annual Credit Report as recommended on here. All I can say it, what a palavar! I processed everything online, no problem. They took the money out of debit card on the same say. This was in mid October.
My security code didn't arrive after 3-5 working days. I emailed them. They said they needed some proof of ID, which I obliged with.
Two weeks on, nothing. I rang them today and the guy on the phone said they'd posted my security code on the day I paid for it. It's been 2 weeks, I've had nothing. When I asked why they wanted copies of my ID and proof of address the guy said they do random security checks. It doesn't make sense that they wanted ID AFTER they sent me a security code. I think it all sounds a bit iffy. There was nothing on their website about random security checks - they lack transparency.
They are rubbish. I am going to wait for my code and see how they are with the checks. As it only cost £2.50 I will check my credit report to see what it comes out as. I only wanted this credit report cos I want to apply for a 0% apr credit card to pay for a used car I want to buy.
As they say, you get what you pay for. Then again I tried the Experian 30 day free trial and they were rubbish - taking nearly 2 month to update my credit report, showing I had outstanding balances on my credit card when I hadn't!! I also reduced my credit on my credit card - I wish I hadn't dont that now! Stupid advice from Experian customer service woman.
It makes my blood boil when hardworking people like me who are not in debt can get bad credit just cos we have a part-time job or something. Stupid bankers (I can think of another unpleasant word that rhymes with that!!). The whole process just stinks! No wonder we were in a bad recession - these systems have a knack of lending to people in debt whilst people like me who are always in the black are usually turned down for credit cos we are part-time workers or something! :-|0 -
Does anyone know if with Experian (and others too probably) when an account is closed and shown as settled, is the Credit Limit figure on that account counted as available credit?
I would have thought that since the account was closed, there would be no available credit for that account therefore it would not be counted and maybe shown as zero, however on mine it still shows the full credit limits for each closed account.0 -
Credit report should be given free of charge to those who ask, that credit card owners. Requests can be submitted to the three major credit agencies, namely Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. Given credit report once every year. But the problem is, not all credit card issuers of your credit report to all credit agencies. What often happens, they only provide a report to an agent. As a result, the applicant reports difficulty getting three copies of a report from credit agencies. Therefore, we must actively manage the credit card issuer to provide a report to credit agencies. We must also actively track down and correct the contents of the report if there is a false report.:rotfl:0
