Go to 'www.creditexpert.co.uk' and register for free trial, but be careful and note the way to cancel after trial period. You have to give your credit card details.

    Hi all, newbie here.

I am online as we speak on the Experian (creditexpert) site to obtain my credit report.

Shall I put my partner on there?? As you can see from my sig, I might have to have a DMP and we obviously live together and he is supporting me at the moment. He had a bad credit rating before we met about (3 years go), it has now improved substantially and he is now on my mortgage. Will it help or hinder me, adding his name? Or is it better I do a separate one for him.

    Many thanks

If you create a financial association with him, then it means that anyone conducting a credit search will take your situation into account also. Be very wary of doing this if your situation is poor and his has improved.

Do you have any joint financial commitments, i.e. joint accounts, loans or credit cards? If you do, then you will already be linked financially.

    Thanks for prompt reply.

Both our credit ratings are fine...I think...wait til I see the reports. He hasn't missed a payment since he met me (3 years ago), and I have never missed a mortgage payment and paid the odd credit card payment late, but not missed.

Only joint commitment is the flat, its in joint names.

Well, I have it now and I am so confused! Sooo many accounts I have had over the years - my God! None of them show up as anything dodgy, they are all settled and payments up to date. I have so many CCs and loans over the years, I am gobsmaked my Credit Score is 999! Quite ironic, I am a low risk person to lend money to...look at my debt.....

    Couple of questions:-

    1. All my statuses are 0, I assume that is good?

    2. I have a fair few cards/accounts that have nil balances but can't see if they are still open or I have closed them. Where does it say that?

    3. If any are still open, advantage leaving them open or shall I close them? Some people say you should close any dormant account and others say it helps you to leave them open! Confused!

Then you have a financial association. You can not distance yourself from your partner's financial affairs, nor him from yours.
