  • Just caught up with about 10 pages , As you know before Christmas I was pretty much the same as you. I went to docs with a list of 27 physical symptoms and 3 appointments down the line we both realised that my problem was mental rather than physical and possibly down to being menopausal (TMI). I was prescribed fluoxetine (prozac) and it was increased and now my mood is absolutely fine. I am happy again. I am motivated again and life is much better. I don't care if I need to take this medication forever so long as I stay feeling good x

MiT that is a fantastic attitude to have. My mum went onto similar when she was suffering a lot with depression after my sister cut us off. I think it may have also been the fact that she had ovarian cancer and a very swift removal of her uterus, (tmi I know) which obviously plunged her into a similar menopausal state. She relaxed into it the same as you seem to have and she was so much better for it. She did eventually come off them after a few years with no real issues. If she had a blip though, she wouldn't hesitate to do whatever works for her when she needs it. Meanwhile my MiL is the polar opposite and thinks medication is the devils work. She rarely takes even a paracetamol, attributes the most bizarre *symptoms* to having taken any medication, and is the most stressed out, highly strung person I have ever met. Not to mention she would rather stay ill for a month and a half than take antibiotics for a chest infection. She made me feel so awful about the medication I had to take just to survive a day with my back that I opted for risky surgery on my spine to try and come off it. Now I take even more post op than I did before!

So.. good for you. You are a fine example for me, and hopefully others :)

Lucky I can't believe you felt the need to write the words 'in my defence'... :o:o:o - I am in awe of you every single day. For what you do in every aspect of your life and that includes parenting two fantastic, loving, savvy, healthy, happy little boys. I could write a list without pausing for thought for even a second of all of my faults in bringing up Jelly, and another one just as large and then some for all of the things that you do that I should. Please don't think I am ever knocking your parenting!! I just want you to get some time to yourself whilst you are feeling so fragile.

And I remember DS2 and the 48 hour rule. Our nursery is 24 hours thank goodness. She would climb the walls on day 2 so I sympathise there honestly!

Hope you feel better soon! And by the way.. one of my best and brightest memories is going to Skegness in November. In the greyest windiest weather me and my little sister stripped down to our swimsuits and went off into the sea swimming and splashing. 45 minutes later, back in the car, blue and happy with hot drinks and fresh warm clothes and the blower going madly on the car to warm us up. I was... 10? :) Best trip ever! xxx

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Evening SA, Mrs H, MiT and friends.

SA, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad etc. Your Mum obviously did a good job of protecting you. I have wanted to do the same with my boys, but DS1 caught me crying earlier. I haven't had a very good day mood wise, and he asked what was wrong. I told him I try really hard to keep everything going but sometimes it all feels like too much. Bless him, he gave me a hug and then asked if he could wash the dishes for me :A. He's not all bad!

Mrs H, I've decided to go to the Drs tomorrow for an emergency appointment (assuming I can get one!). I've had another panicky day today and I can't let it go on like this. My illness of the last week has been tummy related and I honestly don't know if it's anxiety related or not. It has been there even on 'good' days, as well as an awful headache that I can't shift. It's affecting how/what/whether I eat and I'm feeling quite drained. MiT, thanks for sharing. I am not adverse to medication, in fact I will jump at anything that could help. I'm getting annoyed with myself!!

Lilt, thanks again for your lovely thoughtful words. You are by far a better Mummy than me though, you bake cookies :D. Love the holiday memories! 45 minutes in the sea  I can't manage that in August!!

    Hello buffles :D.

Sorry you had a rocky day Lucky - those Sunday blues love to make themselves known don't they? Your son was a real sweetie though and helping in the best way he knew how :) Get that appointment tomorrow - don't chicken out (this is the pot calling the kettle black) and you will feel so much better for getting it all "OUT THERE" and maybe they will give you something to take the edge off, I know that is my saviour when it all just feels like it's pushing me that bit too far. Let us know how you get on  x

  • Bless DS1, and DS2. Adorable!!

I am very glad you are trying for that appointment. If the woman asks on the desk what the emergency is, tell her it is personal. Doctor patient privilege protects you; you don't have to answer that question, it breaches data protection! :) xxx

  • ^ I have been rejected for appointments because my need wasn't pressing enough according to the receptionist when I have tried to say. Hence I no longer tell them. They have to book me an appointment then :)
