It never occurred to me that you had a different GP practice to your OH. It does explain why YOU have not been getting much support. Your GP needs to know all your issues and this may be easier if you change GPs. However you may find that as they are in the same building they may (unofficially) share some info. But I suspect that you will need to create the link to start with.
Your GP really should know your issues and those of your children. Please do something sooner rather than later - do not wait 4 weeks. If they had a clue they would not consider waiting that long. Look at this as a total outsider. All these things are about money when it all boils down, it shouldn't be but it is.
If you become unable to continue to deal with all the carp, then someone else has to. So it is in their interests to keep you fighting fit. So time to lay it on the line and tell them that there are times when you are struggling.
You can't beat hitting them in their pockets & you are definitely worth more than waiting 4 weeks for an appointment.
On a personal note, I have to say that your strength and positivity amaze me. Actually makes me feel unworthy to post on here (until some doctor thinks he is too important to see one of his patients that is).0 -

Could hardly get my big swelled head through the door! You guys are too kind!!
Well, Friday 13th started as predicted, with DS2 loaded with cold and crying to stay off school, swiftly followed by DS1 accidentally kicking the bathroom door and putting in such an Oscar winning performance I thought it was broken . I had been feeling so awful last night, I went to bed at 8pm (I never do that as I worry about DH, but once DS1 was asleep I couldn't wait any longer), but I still felt rough this morning. Because I wasn't well and knew I couldn't manage the gym, I'd suggested DH could go for a short run around the village while I got everyone ready this morning. He took 'short' to mean 13k  and was gone for almost an hour and a half. By this time DS1 was able to walk on the foot and we decided against the Walk In Centre. What a blinking farce! So, 2 kids got to start their half term a day early when in all fairness there wasn't much wrong with them, however Mummy lost her only chance at a recovery day and just had to get on with it. I managed work tonight but I still feel rough.
October, DH and I were just supposed to be swapping cards for Valentine's Day, but while I was at work he got MiL to take him to Mr T's and bought me some flowers.

Lucky, I want to say that you are an amazing woman of strength. Sorry you didn't get your last day of rest before half term. And I definitely agree that you should see the same GP as DH. We all see the same person now after the fiasco with my GP saying I couldn't discuss DS2. He even spoke to me on the phone and asked me how DS2 is getting on. You must see someone sooner than for weeks time.

Hello you
Sorry I missed 20 odd posts!! time flies. Kids will do anything for a day off school. I used to eat soap to make myself sick when I was being bullied. My mum used to say if we were ill enough to be off school then we were ill enough to be in our beds with the lights off and curtains closed all day, and don't even dare think of trying to go out to play once school kicked out. The amount of times I went to school because I was so blinking BORED at home. I know you're a nice mummy and take DS2 places when he is poorlymaybe if you were a mean mummy like mine you would get a recovery day or at least know they are genuinely too poorly to go anywhere :rotfl:
Might I add I am not in any way, shape or form criticising your parenting skills here. You are an amazing, patient and wise mum to all three (;)) of your boys, and far far better at it than I could ever hope to be in a similar circumstance.
Think you should defo move doctors hun. Would be so beneficial for all of you I think. Especially you!
Half term :j:j:j what you got planned? A shedload more supreme stuff I am sure. I may just about scrape some trips out to get Jelly out in the fresh air. At least she has a week to recover from all the bugs. who knows, spring might poke its head around the door and stop then coming so thick and fast.
Big hugs to you. Enjoy your evening xxx

One of my worries is that children can pick up very easily on behavior. You may find that if they feel you are more stressed than usual that they are making reasons to stay off school. They won't even know that they are doing that. It is just an instinctive reaction. This is actually going to increase your reaction which will in turn increase their reaction to it. They will think that staying at home will help to protect you. This could translate into being "ill". This is not them pretending to be ill, but a reaction which tells them to be ill. Sorry but I know I am not explaining this very well. Can someone help me out here and explain properly what I am getting at - please.
Children can be such wonderful, amazing and frankly quite scarily intuitive human beings, it sometimes makes me wonder how we grow up to be the adults we are.0 -
Patane is absolutely spot on. Children become psychosomatically I'll when they sense their parents are ill as they want to be there if something happens. Ricardo makes them feel safer and more in control. We get this a lot with pupils at school. It's not because patents are bad but for reassurance.
I also make sure that sick days are deadly boring with bed rest and no entertainment. It works a treat!! If my DD is well enough to go out shopping or chat away to me then she goes to school..... even if it's half way through the day.
You need a whole days bed rest it seems to me. Is there anyone who can help you get a break??
You are incredible Lucky!!!!!With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

Thanks once again everyone Xx
The whole 'children picking up on how their parents are' definitely makes sense. 3 nights running now DS2 has snuck into my bed through the night. He seems to need reassurance whilst at the same time trying to give it. He repeatedly tells me "you're the best Mummy". He is very kind and thoughtful so he probably does sense that I am upset, no matter how much I think I hide it.
Lilt, I'm devastated to think you would resort to eating soap to avoid school. Kids can be so cruel. In my defence, the day I took DS2 out while he was off school sick, was 2 days after he'd vomited and he would have been at school if they didn't have a 48hr no return policy! Any other day, if they are off sick then they stay in the house!
Today we went to the beach! Not your normal February activity, but it was great. It wasn't too cold and we had a good time finding shells etc. We also had chips and ice cream.
I'm still not feeling well. Managed work again tonight but was mighty glad to get home again. Will go to docs on Monday if no better.

Hope you and DS2 feel better soon. What a loving son he sounds. When I was young my mum tried to keep a lot back from me around the time my dad left. I guessed there was something going on. He was always away on business so she told me that's where he was. She wanted to spare my feelings. By the time she told me he wasn't coming back he'd been gone so long I didn't really miss him anymore so wasn't that bothered. I guess that was her plan.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

I hope your feeling slightly better, one step at a time and all....4 weeks is stupendously ridiculous to wait for an appointment. I have similar problems with my GP surgery and regularly clash with the hitler style receptionists.Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A
