We have some leftover yoghurt that I want to use up and I remember I once made a yoghurt cheesecake with a recipe I found online. I think the recipe I used before was similar to normal cheesecake, baked etc. Of course now I can't find it...
I've had a quick search online but most of the recipes use yoghurt cheese which I don't want to make as I want the cheesecake tonight!
So I was wondering if anyone had a similar recipe?

Aphrodite - I used to make a yoghurt cheesecake many years ago (in the '80s), indeed a normal baked one. The recipe was given to me by a German lady, and the quantities given are for quite a large one. It is delicious - I must make one again soon!
For a base, do whatever you prefer - either a classic biscuit crumbs base or make a sweet pastry out of: 250g plain flour, 125g butter, 125 sugar, 1 egg, 1tsp baking powder. Knead through and press out into a large size springform tin.
Filling: approx 1 pint (preferably Greek) yoghurt, 4 eggs, 200g sugar, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1 sachet vanilla sugar (or a few drops of vanilla essence), 1 sachet of vanilla pudding powder (for 0.5 l milk). Not sure you can buy this stuff in the UK, the best known brand for it is 'Dr Oetker'. But it is just like custard powder, so I guess you can substitute a few tablespoonfuls of Birds Eye's.
Mix it all together and pour into the springform tin. Bake in 180° oven for approx 1 hour."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

I'm trying to find a recipe that was in either (I'm pretty sure) the freeby Somerfield, Tesco or Asda magazine , I think this current edition for a Baked Tiramisu cheesecake. I can't find the recipe and I'm wondering if I've thrown it out (most unlike me!!)
I really want to have a go and it's making me :mad: that I can't find it!!
If it is one of the current magazines, I'll pick one up at the weekend.
Has anyone seen this recipe?? I'm pretty sure it was on a left hand page.
I did try a couple of chocolate recipes from a recent Tesco mailing (cappuccino mousse was one) and it might have been in that, but I know for certain I've thrown that out if it was."Stay Wonky":D

I was watching the final of Breaking into Tesco with my OH and one of the finalists did a baked cheesecake and he couldn't understand the concept of one.

well, I've made it this morning and it is in the oven now. There was enough to fill a tin (I think mine is 6 inches across) and also a small pie dish so I hopefully have 2!
The only problem so far was adding the warm chocolate to the mix, I let it cool, but not enough and it hardened. Luckily, I didn't just add it as a big 'blob', I kind of swirled it over the mixture so I was able to rescue it by having lots of 'stringy' bits of chocolate. I'm sure it will all melt back in when it bakes.

You’ll need to use full fat soft cheese and real double cream for the best results. Tends to be a bit soft otherwise!
The Easiest Cheesecake
7oz/200g digestive biscuits
3 ½ oz/100g butter
½ pt/300ml double cream
4 tbsp. icing sugar
8oz/225g soft cheese,
Lemon, finely grated zest of/juice, as desired
1. ‘Crumb’ the biscuits, either food processor or plastic bag and a rolling pin. Add to melted butter and mix well. Press into an 8” flan dish, sandwich tin or similar. Loose bottomed is useful if you have it. Then you can transfer to a plate if desired.
2. Beat together the soft cheese, sifted icing sugar and lemon rind, also a little juice if desired. Not too much else your mixture will be too runny. Beat cream until thick and gently fold into the cheese mixture.
3. Spread onto the prepared base. Chill for several hours (Cheesecake, not you!). Top as wished. A good quality jam is good, perhaps strawberry or blackcurrant, or fresh or canned fruit. Maybe strawberries in season or canned mandarin oranges.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"[/SIZE]
