Hi. I've not made cheesecake this way, so cannot tell if it will set or not. The gelatin should let it set.
Do you have a tin the same size as your biscuit base? To be on the safe side you could always pour the topping into the duplicate tin and let it set in that( lined with parchment paper or cling film). Then lift it onto the biscuit base when set.

Hi the recipe states 2 teaspoons about 10ml of water to dissolve the gelatine, if you have added 115ml of water with the dissolved gelatin to the yogurt and cream cheese mix then it will be too runny and probably not set. Any time I make cheesecake using gelatine it is only a very small amount of liquid to disolve the gelatine about 1-2 tablespoons at most then this is whisked in to the cream cheese mix. Looking at the quantities. The instructions on gelatin usually refer to how many leaves or teaspoons if the powdered type it will take to set a pint of liquid. You need to remember that the yogurt and cream cheese mix will be a fairly sloppy consistency so this is the liquid that the gelatine will firm up so you don't want to add too much more liquid to it.

Thanks all..... I realised that I'd added too much water so decided to add a second sachet of gelatine (dissolved in a very small amount) which did the trick, although it was rather jelly like! It looked fine and tasted okay but we didn't particularly like yogurt addition so I wouldn't make this recipe again

ive merged this with our existing cheesecake thread

I'm a big believer in some foods remaining untouched. By "untouched" i mean not messed with or processed or made low fat (or adding yoghurt but that may be just me):p:o

These foods include pizza, cream buns and really any kind of desert that isn't low fat chocolate mousse from a tub. I would rather not try to add yoghurt to cheesecake but that's me being a total weirdo :)

I very regularly make a delia cheesecake which is newyork (so baked) and it has never went wrong. I can't seem to find the recipe online now but if you do need it, just shout and i will type it up for you.:A

Any time i veer from the usual cheesecakes they go horribly wrong. :eek:Glad yours at least tasted ok :) I've never used Gelatine as i live with a veggy so sorry I can't advise there.:o

  • Hi Zippy, I have just read your post about your cheesecake never going wrong, so feel I'm up for the challenge being able to murder washing a mushroom... i'd really love to make a cheesecake for my family if you would be so kind as to type up the recipe.
