You could have 600 minutes/unlimited text/unlimited data or unlimited minutes/unlimited text/4GB data for £20, or unlimited everything for £25.

Of course, those prices could all be discounted if Three decide they want to keep you as a customer.

hmmmm so the unlimited everything is £25?

That's what my legacy sim only One Plan (2000 minutes/5000 texts/5000 3to3 minutes/and AYCE with tethering) costs now with a £10 discount applied each month so I've been paying £15 for ages.
If they apply that same discount to the new plans to keep me then I'll stay...still waiting for my text from Three.

Yep looks like retentions rather than the upgrade dept will be the only way to try and keep hold of a good deal.

No way I'll be paying £25 a month just for a sim only "deal" - I'd be wanting a semi-decent smart phone as well for that!

  • My contract is similar to Tissot's. I have been on the One Plan for about 3 years and changed to Sim Only One Plan after my 2 year contract expired. I only got a Smartphone so that I could tether, and I regularly use 180 to 200 gb per month tethering. So 4 gb wouldn't last me a day.

What I wish to know is can they legally do this.

As far as I know they can legally do this as they are permitted to make changes to the T&Cs as long as they give you sufficient notice and the option to leave and go elsewhere. However, as no other network has unlimited tethering that you require, your only option is to alter your usage.

You'd think I'm the extremely competitive market we have in the UK that someone would be be able to offer what some people are after.

Do we know anything official from Three as to exactly what is happening with The One Plan?

Does it affect everyone? I'm on a 12 month Sim Only deal at £15, which ends next month but yet to receive the text to call them.

I'm wondering if I could get Three to continue my £10 discount by applying to their current £25 tariff. All I would lose then is unlimited tethering (not a problem) but gain unlimited minutes and the free 0800 (neither much of a gain to me) and the 5ppm 0845 calls (generally do these for free from my landline but nice as a fall back if I need to call one whilst away from home).

For me, it's all about whether I can get the £10 discount carried over, the loss of unlimited tethering isn't an issue.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences of trying to get this.

i have asked them to quote the part of the TC that allows such changes and was quoted 10.2 We may end this agreement in the following ways:
    (a) On 30 days’ notice, outside the Minimum Term. If your Package does not have a Minimum Term, or the
Minimum Term has expired, we can end this agreement by giving you at least 30 days’ notice.

I have asked if it is an original contract that they used when i upgraded my contract 2 years ago and they told that this part never change.

so this situation sounds very legal to me, but i am not a lawyer and hopefully someone with a good knowledge of consumer law can take a look at it and comment.

online tc are available here: http://www.three.co.uk/_standalone/Link_Document?content_aid=1220457053001

Of course its legal, its the standard 30 days notice that almost all "correct" rolling contract will have.

They are well within their rights - if they choose to excercise it! - At this point they are only offering a carrot to switch, not excercising the clause.
