Piggers thinking of you all and wishing Noel home.
Swept some leaves up, popped to the shops, fed the mogs, baked a cake, done dinner for the boys.
Going to go and sort out clean bedding for DS1 to make his bed up later and annotate a report plus a little ironing later. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Poor little kitty
. Well done vanilla for doing your best.
Amazingly, while the school friend was round, I managed to FINALLY finish the bedroom furniture off (they sent the missing part yesterday) and tidy the epic heap of shoes in the downstairs hall. DH is going to pick up all the lego now
Hmm, wondering which bit of the list to work on - maybe kitchen and dining room floor? Then I can make myself a cuppa while I do it. Will report back - obviously a hugely important decision!0 -
 Just popping in to update you all with the SHOCKING news that I didn't know the knobs from my cooker came off!
:rotfl: same here. I haven't taken them off yet as I'm afraid I won't be able to get them all back on again  I'm hoping to get it done this week sometime.
For today's tasks, I've washed and changed the bedding. Wiped the window sill. Not yet hoovered the landing (which is a hall in my case), and I steam mopped the kitchen floor.
My list of dailies is growing, as we're now getting condensation inside the glass on our windows each morning, which all needs to be wiped off or it'll go mouldyWe get this every winter. I wonder if a moisture trap on the window sills would help..

Been a bit hectic here. Collected littlies after work, tried to persuade them to eat to no avail, took DD swimming, aww she did so well, and looked very cute with her little wet curly pigtails
. Then home to supper and fireworks (via the outside light tripping all the downstairs sockets ). Eventually got the littlies to bed, back onto paid stuff to book some travel stuff for next month, then checked over the Xmas stash and put some stuff in the loft.
Phew! That's me done now - tired out!
Day at home with DD tomorrow. Want to go to Dunn3s for DS some pjs and I need a new duvet. Mine is allegedly 13.5 but not very warm. So I'm Having a better quality one.
Then I have some cleaning to catch up withBossymoo

Help. I am really struggling to find the time to do anything at the moment. Ideas/suggestions/tips welcome.
Today I got home from work at 2pm. Took the dog for a quick walk, made the beds and had a quick tidy. Sorted some washing then took DS1 for his psychologists appointment. Came home, collected DS2 and OH and went out for tea.
We have just got in and I havent done anything on the list. I am just about to check my e-mails for job number 2.
Tomorrow I am at work until 4.30. I know the whole flylady thing of doing a bit every day works but I never seem to get the chance to do more than level 1 unless I spend all weekend cleaning.
Sorry guys, thats a bit of a moan I know but I just feel a bit defeated.0 -

Have you got trickle vents? If so pop them open - it really helps. Actually. I've just closed ours as it's smokey and smelly, but will open them again tomorrow.Bossymoo

This might not be very moneysaving, but I REALLY reccomend a dehumidifier. Perhaps you could get one second hand, or in the Jan sales. Our old cottage is damp, and the chimney leaks in the attic bedroom. The walls are very thin on one side of the house, with NO insulation, meaning we were getting tons of condensation, with 5 of us in here breathing all night!. We now have this plug in dehumidifier, and it has made an incredible difference to the whole house, and even my washing dries quicker. It gets about 1.5 litres of water our of the air overnight, and I switch it off during the day. It's quiet and small, and was a brillaint buy - was about £100 I think, but I reckon you could get it cheaper if you used a deal or something. Really worth it not to have wet windowsills, damp washing for ages, and mouldy walls - now there is only a tiny bit of condensation in the mornings, and the house just feels less damp.0 -
I've been considering a dehumidifier Sushistar as we keep getting mould in the bathroom, which I have to clean off regularly, I've bought some mould resistant paint and I'm going to try that. Which model did you get?
Sending wishes and vibes for all the kitties with problems,
Today I have
Coped with bad headache
vacced the hall and lounge
sorted some stuff from kitchen either to tip or charity shop
cleared the table of doom and relocated items uncovered thereon
started to clear worktops and put away things which have been used,
wudu but not put away
Done some more cleaning in the living room but not quite finished
Made beef shepherds pie and veggie s.p as one daughter is vegetarian.
Still to clear kitchen then I'm to bed.
night night allNSD 1/3,
My mantra is After I ....I will. eg After I make my morning coffee, I will take my medication. Eventually this will become a habit,0 -
Three little ducks, all ready for the off!
The pattern that I mentioned earlier says to put in a running stitch to narrow the chick's neck, but I don't think that's necessary for ducks. I just added stuffing and then put a running stitch in to gather up the opening in the base - this automatically makes a nice rounded duck shape, and the beak also works well (a rectangle of felt with rounded corners, stitched across the centre, then folded and sewn just at the folded corners to keep the beak shut).
Very pleased with my recyclingand I hope the people who find them enjoy them and read the stories on the project website. According to the map on the website, the place where I shall release them does not have any previous finds.
I've found an odd ball of yellow wool so I'll make some more when I have time.
Emerging from lurkdom to say thank you for your ducks. The project was started by a very dear school friend of mine in memory of her friend who died whilst waiting for a lung transplant (the friend collected yellow ducks).
It was inspired by the friend's Mum who on the anniversary of her daughters death spent the day carrying out random acts of kindness in her memory.
My friend will also need new lungs if she is to see her little boy grow up (she has cystic fibrosis) and is quite poorly at the moment so any spare healthier vibes would be welcome.
On a flying front I've put the dw on twice and the wm once - whole house is in dire need of attention before visitors on Sunday!0 -
Nice to meet you, Looby-Lou - but it's really mrs-moneypenny you should be thanking: it was she who gave me the idea of upcycling the Easter egg chicks, and she's been supporting your friend's project for much longer than I have.
I'm hoping to get the Old Wives interested in knitting lots more. Think I might make little hats for the next group of ducks
Stay-healthy-vibes to your friend  and I hope she gets the transplant she needs very soon, though the gift will inevitably be bitter-sweet for another family.
I have had a very pleasant day with lots of sunshine. I flew for half an hour this morning, then went to the NT property where I currently volunteer as a room guide to meet up with the head gardener and one of the garden guides. I was given an individual tour of the garden and am going to start working occasionally with the garden guides team, as well as doing the indoor job on other days, when the property reopens in March.
Then had lunch in town, released the ducks and went shopping - got myself a couple of warm jumpers and a long coat, so I am almost set up for the winter now
Meanwhile DH dithered about indoors and fell asleep after cooking himself lunch. He finally went outside to work on his railway after 4.00 pm until it got dark. At least it looks tidier now that he has cleared away the tools. Oh yes, and he has eaten a whole packet of the SW salted caramel bars today - not the first time he's done itI have confiscated the remainder and hidden them. Woe betide him if he finds them! If he is good, I may dole out occasional treats.
Hope all pets are safe and calm after tonight's fireworks.
Roll on tomorrow - we've got friends from where we used to live coming to stay for two nights :j0
