Achieved today now I'm back from holiday and starting to panic we have so much to achieve:

-contacted gas and electric for credit refund, awaiting final figure.
-contacted window cleaner (three years is too long!)
-contacted BA for refund on flights I won't be able to take as is 10 days away from due date. I need to go online to do that as it's half the fee compared to cancelling over the phone.
-completed all holiday washing and only have one load left to dry.

    To do:
    - fold and put away clothes
    - return some bits I bought for the holiday and didn't need
    - food shop
    - cancel flights online with BA

So busy week this week. I have made a savings plan of all the things we need completing in the next few months including:
    Bathroom extension,
    Plastering,
    Painting,
    Carpeting/laminate flooring the whole house,
Top up money for mat leave,
Obviously baby bits nearer the time (pram, cot, etc).

I have done a rough plan luckily through the first item plastering was quoted quite a bit under what I had expected and starts tomorrow and will do two days this week and one more in a week or so. Can't wait. It's going to be a decorating freezing for a few weeks because he is doing our lounge/dinner ceiling to hide the hideous artex. Our hallway and stairs, walls and ceiling and our bedroom ceiling. What have we let ourselves in for?! Roll on the building site! I'm not sure I will recognise our house by the end of the month.

  • Just been on night shift so updating this in bed, what a luxury! We have knocked another £961 off the mortgage including OP! It also brings us under £150s. To £149,197 :j

Plaster has been here for the second day hall/stairs nearly finished. Dinning room nearly finished, living room just started. We are packing up our bedroom tonight so that's ready for tomorrow. Starting to call round decorators to get an idea. I think we feel a little overwhelmed about the volume of painting to be done so are checking out if a decorator is an option. Unlike other things though we don't know any painters or anyone who knows anyone.

    I will keep you posted.

  • Fab work on house, we are getting nowhere fast at the moment. We are currently averaging 1 room per year :rotfl:
The worst bit is we're happy with this!

Hope the morning sickness isn't kicking in yet :)
  • Ourcornercottage We managed two rooms in nearly three years (one of which we only finished last week!) and now we are doing nearly all the remaining ones in few weeks. I think that's why we are overwhelmed, we aren't used to this level of achievement :rotfl:

The morning sickness started full throttle last Tuesday and shows no sign of letting up. I've even had nights where I wake up in the early hours to feel sick for an hour or so then sleep again. I feel really quite reassured by it though, like its a sign it's all going strong. I don't know if that's true?! We have a scan next week when I will be 8+2 which was booked as part of our fertility checks as follow up for cyst they found but we are allowed to keep it to see baby so I am really looking forward to that.

Not much left on CC (£750). We are back to £50 a week off that and focusing on money in the bank for plastering / painting / carpet / extension. I wonder will I ever stick to a plan for more than a few weeks or months? Can a wiser MSE tell me the answer to that :p
